The Hornady brass isn't without it's problems either. I can only get about 3 loadings before the primer pocket gets too loose. From what I've read it seems normal with all their brass though.
What is going on with Ballistic Tips in 6.5? I need some 140's for my Swede and they are out of stock everywhere! Are they concentrating on some other bullet line right now or what?
Well,so much for that plan.still beating the crap out of brass. Switched to the Nosgar version with a 6.8 bolt in a new BA barrel. Down to a 2.4oz buffer, standard gas block and dropping reusable brass at 4 oclock about 4-6' away. Much better.
Been loading for 30+ years and have yet to anneal a case. I use the collet dies for everything except the AR's. If I split a neck it just goes in the recycle bin. I don't know if it's considered match ammo but most of it shoots under 1" at 200yds.
And when you shoot the barrel out you can put on a new McGowen. They just started advertising barrels set up like a Savage with the barrel nut. Calling them Howage.
I have a 2.4 oz buffer and my AGB is wide open. I can't run any light bullets but 55 and up work fine. Not sure why it's under gassed but I'll have to check things with the chrono when it warms up. Gas port in barrel is good. It cycles fine and drops brass at 4 oclock about 4 ft away.
Thats why I switched to the Nosgar version with a new BA barrel. Sold off the AR Stoner barrel. Now I have a shooter. What brand of barrel/upper are you shooting?
I have 1 243 and a 6mm AI that i use the 85 Sierra in. The 243 is strictly for whitetail and the AI is used for groundhogs and deer. This bullet consistently shoots 1/2 moa at 200 yds in either one. Longest shot with the AI was a lazered 368 yds on a standing groundhog, DRT. I always keep a good...
If you have early brass with the sharp rim, complain to Nosler.
Didn't do me any good, they told me it was designed that way :)
If it was designed that way why did they change it later to the beveled edge?? I've only had the Nosgar to the range once for barrel break in but got a .62" group...
From what I've seen personally the 22 Nosler is notoriously rough on brass. Ejector marks are pretty much the norm with this cartridge. I recently went to an adjustable gas block but I'll be switching this thing over to 22 Nosgar as soon as the brass and bolt get here.
