I have an suggestion. With the rapid expansion of the Staball line of powders, give us one on the other end of the spectrum. A 4198 speed Staball would be snapped up by us straight walled shooters. Especially if it was kept in stock.
A 1911 loaded with Underwood 45 Super will do the trick if you have a fully supported chamber and recoil buffer.
With conservation and media being what it is today. Also the proper way to handle an incedent where you have to put down a predator is simply shut up. If it was trying to come in...
I really like Ramshot powders. I haven’t tried them all of course, but TAC, LRT, and Hunter have been as good or better than just about any other powder out there. I picked up 5 lbs of LT-32 to try in my 45-70’s, just haven’t loaded it yet. Fotis won’t have a problem. He could pour sand in the...
I don’t think Alliant cares. First, Federal Cartridge utilizes them in their factory ammo. Second, I may be wrong but I don’t think they manufacture squat. Bofors and Reload Swiss supplies 90% of it. Also Bofors supplies just about all European military ammo. I know for a fact that RL23 is...
I understand developing REACH compliant powders. The manufacturers have to abide by international environmental regulations when the product is marketed worldwide. That being said, pollution from smokeless powder doesn’t even amount to a grain of sand in the grand scheme of things. It’s a hot...
LRT is a pretty slow powder. Personally I think it would be better suited for heavy bullets in 6.5 and 7mm magnums. You’d probably need to be in the PRC or Ultra Mag class for it to perform well for a .30 caliber. Retumbo pressures out in my 7mm Rem Mags a few grains before LRT. I haven’t...
Looking at the MSDS it could be a fast lot of Staball HD that Hodgdon decided to keep. Looks like a H1000, RL26ish burn range. It’s an interesting powder, but I have too much Staball HD (15lbs) and LRT(10lbs) to try another right now.
LRT gives great speed and accuracy with Berger 180’s. Sub...
Aero makes quality parts. I like that they have the adjustment screw to take the play out of the upper and lower fit. You have a nice lower there. I also like the Burris scope. I have 2 new 4.5x14x42 Fullfield II’s with steel turrets I bought when they stopped making them.
I’m going to just have to load it to see how it performs. This powder seems unique to me, to say the least. Maybe interesting is a better word.
The burn chart has it one below IMR4198. Load data has charge weights like H322 in 45-70. It’s a fine grain extruded powder made in the Canada IMR...
I’ve held onto both 4198’s like they are gold, for the price they’ll be when they hit the market again it may as well be gold dust. Lol.
I’ve got 5 lbs of LT-32 I’m hoping will be similar. Haven’t tried any in my 45-70 yet. It’s a fine extruded powder between IMR4198 and RL7. Hopefully I’ll be...
I load it 2 grains under the Hodgdon max with H4198 in my 22” barreled 1895 because it’s got a thicker jacket than the Hornady bullet.Thats max for my rifle and my shoulder. I load it to 2.590” because at 2.610” it doesn’t cycle in my rifle. You have to use the Lee FCD with this bullet. You...
Barrels are parts. Just like brake pads and rotors. Shoot it enough and you’ll need to replace it. Hard breaking from high speed wears out brakes. High pressure loads burn out the throats. You work on a hot rod more than a Sunday driver. Nothing comes for free. I don’t worry about barrels that...
Very nice rifle Fotis. My dad had a Winchester model 43 in 22 Hornet. My brother has it now. My dad shot a doe dead center of the white spot under her chin. She never moved, just strait down. I’m not saying it’s a deer rifle because I don’t consider it one, but it certainly worked that day we...
