Very nice Fotis!! I think I will join the 6.5 Swede club in time but I think I’m going to hold out for a nice Mauser sporter or a M70 XTR Featherweight. 🤷♂️
At the gunshow a few months back I picked up this Winchester Model 70 from a family friend. It belonged to his Dad but the steel butt plate caused him dismay when he shot it so he made a me a heck of a deal!
Pre-64 Standard grade, serial puts it in 1948 as date of manufacture. It has a Douglas...

Where are you all at on this apparently hot-button issue? I have heard much scuttlebutt lately decrying the firing of .38 ammunition (especially in revolvers) chambered in .357 Magnum. The fly in the proverbial ointment being that prolonged application will result in gas erosion in the cylinder...
My favorite .357 Bisley Blackhawk has the 7.5” barrel, unfluted and engraved cylinder, and factory Ruger grips. It shoots AMAZINGLY with both .38 and .357 loads (factory and handloaded).
I have yet to kill anything besides ground squirrels and rattlesnakes with it but hopefully that will change...
I killed my first few elk with an 8mm Rem Mag in a standard as issued Remington 700 BDL. Like Don said, its a great cartridge but bullets were exceedingly difficult to acquire. We shot the 220 grain Sierra Gamekings.
