I retired from the PD at 47 and moved from Connecticut to Florida three days later. I generally wake up at 0630 and first order of business is a coffee and a sit on the back porch. Since retiring I've worked a large variety of part time jobs none of which required and early rise. At 80 I do one...
I've been using either IMR4350 or RL17 with 140 Grain Sierras or 140 Partitions in mine. My Rifle is a first year Remington 700 Titanium which with a scope and ammo is at 6lbs. Even with the light weight I'm getting 3 shot inch groups or less at 100 yards.
I wasn't going to say anything until you brought up the Russian Asset crap. That is old garbage and has been disproven on many occasions. I'm getting the feeling that you're one of our liberal members. Get over it you lost or better yet if you don't like what we have now please buy a plane ticket.
Now that's enough of that Scotty. When I was in the Navy (Nam 65-66) we were very cordial and took you wherever you wanted to go (and some places you didn't) . Always got a thumbs up from you guys.
My dad worked in a war production plant and when attempting to sign up he was told in so many words "get back to your job you're needed there". Two uncles that served in the South Pacific one being a spotter plane pilot and the other ground forces. Both made it back in one piece with a lot of...
The only .338 I've shot on game is the .338RUM. I've never seen Elk (and other animals) go down so fast after being hit with either a 225 Partition or a Sierra 225 pro Hunter. Yes it has recoil but with when wearing your hunting gear recoil is negligible.
I use mostly H1000 or Retumbo for Mags. IMR 4350 for my 7-08, 06 and other such rifle calibers. I used to use Bullseye and Tite Group for handguns but found Winchester 244 is excellent, it burns very clean, you use little of it (lasts a bit longer) and accuracy wise it is excellent. Unique used...
Mike, many years back I hunted Bluebills on Long Island Sound between Long Island, NY and Connecticut. I also hunted them in Florida when they occasionally show up. When their in fresh water they are just about edible. When their in salt water they are basically inedible. I've tried a couple of...
I've been a Sig person for a long time. My first purchase was a West German 226 in .357 Sig. That gun absolutely loves Underwood Ammunition. I now own a total of 4 Sigs and either carry or shoot all of them. Agree with Fotis on the Glocks.
The latest issue of Guns and Ammo has an extensive article on the Back Country. Answers a lot of the questions asked on this forum. It looks like the case can be reloaded twice.
I think you'll find that most Elk taken with a 30.30 are 100 yards or less. Many years ago I took a bull moose with a Marlin 336 in .35 Remington. Shot was approximately 40 yards. Moose went down rather quickly. Within their range limitations they work very well.
I started using them in my Model 94 .32 special when they came out. Accuracy is good and they definitely do drop deer. Feeding with the pointed tip is also more reliable.
I've always had great performance with partitions. Maybe not quite as accurate as some other Nosler bullets but plenty accurate enough. Their performance in my .338RUM was unmatched.
