Sorry to hear this about your friend. Having someone come into our lives that has such an impact on us that will carry us through all our days is a real blessing. You were blessed.
Bummer on the lack of the preferred ammo. That Winchester PP will getter done also. Then you can develop loads with the Sierra 225gr. It does well in my 35 Whelen. You're going to like the performance.
I like the RL series of powders, wish I had more than I do. I'll keep using them till there gone. Me personally, I've always developed more than one load for each rifle with different bullet weights and different powders. Good to have options. Some may not be quite as accurate but plenty good...
Bummer. I would have to sacrifice one of those magazines and try the bevel taper lip ideas that were given just to see if it helps. Out of curiosity have you contacted tikka about your problems?
A 200gr BT 358 diameter bullet for the lowly 358 and 35 Whelen owners would be a great deer bullet. They used to make it. I know it is not a real popular caliber bullet selection, but Nosler could make a run every three years and enough of them to last for awhile. Serria does this.
Have you tried different magazines in each of your rifles to see if that might eliminate the problem? My tikka T3X stainless hunter works fine with both of the magazines I have. It's a 6.5x55 but don't know if that has any bearing on your problem.
When son Ben was 12 yrs old and starting deer hunting, he wanted a 270 win like Uncle Billy. So got him one and a friend suggested using H380 starting load with the Sierra 130gr game King. It grouped well and killed deer out to about 175 yards or there abouts. Never checked speed but my guess...
Either one is good. Those soft noses get banged up when using a kinetic puller. I put a round ear plug at the bottom of mine where the bullet will hit when pulling. Just make sure bullets have a cushion to hit.
Ernie that is about the best explanation of using a red dot as I have read. Have been practicing unloaded at home.
My only red dot sighted pistols are a Ruger MK4 competition and a Springfield Armory Ronin 45acp with an adaptor in the rear dovetail for mounting the red dot. Burris Fast Fire 3 on...
Budget? Depends on your ability and dedication to how far you want to chase the rabbit down the hole. As stated above watch couple of matches, check for rifles there or online as stated. Get started then go from there. I used to use, and some guys still use the 6mmBR out to 300yds. Accurate and...
I have been fortunate to have used, owned, shot most things from 222Rem to 35Whelen. Instead of getting different calibers- cartridges, I seem to have gotten a couple of duplicates. One of each will be given to my son, grandkids or nephews. Some calibers I would not own again just because they...
