My Howaby came pressure pointed. When I switched to the B&C stock I left in the pressure point. Gun shoots great so I am not inclined to mess with success.
The factory tupperware stock almost always needs to have the barrel channel sanded to fix the stock rubbing more on one side than the...
If you have a piece of doweling, sanding block and some sandpaper, 180 or 220 grit, you can do the job yourself. Pull the stock from the action, take some off using long light strokes all the way up and down the barrel channel. I have done this on two guns with tupperware stocks. When you...
Get him a NEF Sportster in 17HMR. The LOP should work for him if a Pardner fits. I have a 17HMR Sportster with a cheep Tasco 6.5x24x42 scope on it. Much more accurate than I am.

I have one. I changed out the tupperware stock with a Bell & Carlson Medalist. The Medalist fits better and comes with a Decelerator pad. Added a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5x14x40. Trigger is owner adjustable. Gun shoots great. Best deal out there for a magnumb rifle.
I'm using IMR 4064 with someone elses 175gr bullets in my milsurp Mausers. I don't have data for 180gr bullets. I have data for 170gr bullets. I would start around 45gr of IMR 4064 and work up carefully. This is a low book load in the Speer manual.
Hope this helps

My Howaby 300 WBY has a mag length of 3.575". Nowhere near the lands. Doesn't seem to affect accuracy.
I'm using H4831SC and 180gr Protected Point Partitions in a 24" barrel. Accuracy is always under an inch with whatever bullet I use. Once in a while the holes touch if I do my part.

250 Savage
Those rounds come to mind right off the bat.
If I was in your shoes I would be trolling the gun stores for a Bubbaized M99 Savage, restock it with new wood and a Decelerator.

Yep
I'll take my chances with another brand to get precise click adjustments.
What's the difference between a Rifleman and a VX-I ? I've seen them both at SW side by side for the same price.

Sounds like you need to screw down the sizer die some more, if your rounds are hard to chamber BEFORE you fire them.
Try this:
Find fired empty case
Resize, trim to length
Try to chamber empty case in rifle.
If you can't chamber easily, turn sizer die 1/4 turn and try again. Keep trying...
