    Oehler 35 available again.

My 35P was bought when they first came out so it may be different than the new ones, but it will not pick up the shot when the sun is at an angle late in the day. I try to get a sunny day with light overhead. Mine looks just like the new ones only without the printer!

    My first Revolver

I have a gp100 just like the one shown in the picture. 13 gr. 2400, 158 XTP, cci 500 primer, shoots very well/ chron'd 1065 fps with 4" barrel. 16 gr. H-110 , cci 550 primer, 158 XTP/ 1200 fps. Anyone got any good loads to add for the 357 Mag?

    Oregon draw results online today!

254X is right across the road from 256 where it all started with the trophy bulls (only 21 branch bull tags). The big bulls spilled over to 254 and the elk move toward their winter range from 256 so the spikes are there in the late season also. Have a real good time!

254X, that's right outside my front door. There are a bunch of elk in that area, the biggest problem will be passing up all the big bulls for the spikes! Good luck!

    .338-06 AI

Who has experience with this cartridge? Does it outrun the standard .338-06? I think it would be fun to build one or the other. I know it would be easier to just go buy a 338 Win Mag, but it wouldn't be as much fun!

    300 Win Mag 200 ABs

    My 300 Win has a 24 " barrel, the 300 Wby has a 26". Both of these were chrono'd with RL-25.

    300 Win Mag 200 ABs

Last year I played a bit with loads for the 300 Win Mag and found one I really thought had promise! The load was the 200 AB with RL-25 (75 gr), it shot way under an inch, has a fair bit of recoil, I just needed to chrono it. Well yesterday the sun was out and I had some time, so did the deed...

    what a nice bonus

"i'll take 1/2 inch group over speed anytime." I agree with this whole heartedly! There are those that get 3200 with the 200 AB and still shoot under an inch, but the 300 Ultra I loaded up for went 3150 with 180 AB's into 3/4". The owner loved the gun and load as it kicked like a 300 WM.

Need a new scope for new rifle

For those thinking about a VX-3 in 4.5-14x40, I would suggest looking through one before buying! If it doesn't bother you to have a small field of view it might be for you. Do not think that it will have the same FOV as a 3.5-10x40 VX-3 set on 4.5 as it does not! Good optics and build, but a...

    old powder?

I still have 2 pounds of H870 marked $5.49 each (Bi-Mart stickers). I used 78 grains with 175 Grand Slams in a 7 mm RM, very accurate!

    Nosler Brass

I have always found it easier to fire-form brass from a larger case necked down leaving a false shoulder to head-space on. This prevents stretching the web. The thing you have to careful of is a case that ends up too short on the neck if the parent case isn't long enough. I did a bunch of 280...

Here she is. Not a 6.5mm but close!!!!!!

I was doing some chronograph work some time back when a guy comes over with a 270 Wby in an original model 70 made by Wby in the early years. It was a beautiful specimen with a 24" barrel. I chrono'd it for him with some shells from an original box with the lion on it; 150 grain factory...

    Rifles for Elk

It is a heavy load of 7828 that might be way too much in modern guns so I won't let it out! I actually had it over 3000 with no visible signs of pressure. The chamber in my gun is longer than present standards, I tried to work up the same load in a browning A-bolt and had to stop way sooner...

    Rifles for Elk

I have a lot of rifles in a lot of calibers and have shot bulls with most of them, but when I reach for an elk rifle my hand always goes for the 300 wby. It has never let me down, the second rifle I would reach for is my 300 Win Mag as it never fails either. Next would be my 7mm RM with 175 gr...

E-Tips and the .300 wby mag

" " I've been loading several Wby's for years and never have trusted flattened primers. If you give too much headspace primers will be flat even with safe pressures. Too much pressure should not be allowed in any rifle for the sake of safety and longivity of the firearm. My original 300 used...

E-Tips and the .300 wby mag

On my first 300 Wby I played with 150 grain Barnes X bullets and IMR-7828, it shot really small groups at 3450 fps and no pressure signs. I can't remember the amount of power used, but it was way under what the books showed for max. At that time there was no load info on the Barnes X,(the...

300 Weatherby Loading and old stuff

Don't hold your breath waiting for a sale on Weatherby brass. I used to make mine from 8mmMag brass but I can't find it anymore. It's even getiing hard to find Remington 300 Wby brass. If Nosler brass is the same as Norma or Wby it may be as good as any. Just be glad you are not looking for...

300 Weatherby Loading and old stuff

I have several 300 Weatherbys that I have worked up loads for and Rl-22 has a faster burn rate than the 7828 so be careful! My old Mark V likes RL-22 and 78 gr with the 200 pt, giving 3000 fps and good accuracy. Many of the new manuals have backed way off on the IMR-7828 from older manuals...

    300 Weatherby mag

You can Google up an article by John Barsness from "24 hour Campfire" done in October 2008 about the 300 Weatherby. He uses a Vanguard in his load workups and is a great read!
