CC,
We were staying in a motel in Stettler, and saw the meteorite from there. Apparently it came down near Lloydminster, SK.
Here is a thread on the 24 Hr Campfire describing the effort.

We hunted on Alberta Conservation Association...
I did an Alberta Hunter Host in November for whitetail deer with a friend up there. We had talked about it for probably three years and finally got 'round2it.
I wanted to hunt a mule deer, but the areas open for a non-resident alien (non-Canadian) are those where you can buy an over the counter...
I shoot a 6.5-'06 for mule deer and antelope frequently in the West, the latest load iteration was with a 130 gr Berger VLD. Building a 6.5 RCM would allow using a shorter and lighter action, and a lighter rifle with the same barrel length -- say 24".
If you really want to zoom smaller and...
Midway reportedly has prices for some models of the VX3.
I have been wiiting for Leupold to bring the technologies in their 30 mm VX7 line to a one inch scope, and this is it!
These VX3 scopes will have to be seen to be believed.

jmad_81,
I have Hawkeye rifles in .375 Ruger (the African) and the .300 RCM. I have been thinking about a 6.5 RCM, even sometimes about a 7 RCM. I have to admit that the .270 RCM did not occur to me, but then I never think about .270s. ;)
Well, I did think about a 6.8 SPC once in a small CZ...
bobbyrum,
Howdy and welcome to the forum.
I haven't had a chance to hunt in Manitoba yet, but I have had some taxidermy done in Winnipeg.
I shot my first big deer with the .284"/160 gr NP, in those days it was the screw-turned version in the older colored boxes. Still using the NP but mostly...
bullet,
That is an interesting assortment of projectiles. Usually I find one that works and just stick with it.
Thanks for the data on the barrel. I am thinking the .458" is a better way to go with a .45 ML.
I have a friend who shoots a lot of paper patch loads in his BP cartridge rifles...
Howdy, and welcome to the forum. I shoot a 6.5-'06 ( a hunting rifle). Fred Huntington pioneered the 6.5 on a .280 cartridge case, so I would check with RCBS on dies.
I would also think about the .264 Win Mag.
I have a .300 RCM, and my first thought looking at the case was that it would make a...
bullet,
Thanks for that data.
I was wondering about the land and groove difference, sounds like the rifling is shallow. Is it a .458" barrel? What diameter are your conicals that the gunsmith preps for you?
I have a White ML rifle, and that one is a .451". Most of my rifles are .50s. One .500...
bullet,
What are the details of the barrel internals, please and thank you?
A rifle in that style should look great, and should shoot very effectively too. Don't forget a picture when you get it done.
thanks...jim
I also recommend following the instructions (RTFI as we used to say in the Navy).
So far hunting with a ballistic reticle seems to guarantee me a close shot. Must be some magic in the scope.

JD,
I used to work for Rich LaRocco at hunts.net, and he collected stats from the outfitters that he sent hunters to. How many hunters, how many animals taken or passed, and what sizes?
You might also think about your definition of success for this hunt: what animal are you looking for?; what...
Nosler began the series with the .300 WSM, so I don't think they are stuck on ancient classic cartridges. Now when you are building rifles in the 6.5 to 8 mm bore size, they pretty much will all do the same things unless you get really outlandish on cartridge capacity. I understand Nosler making...
MJ,
You can usually find reviews on the birding sites for most of the available spotting scopes and binos, as well as some direct comparisons. I looked at a couple, and it sounds like Alpen is doing OK with glass imported to their specifications. Their warranty looks good on those covered by...
