I have used Ramshot Mag powder extensively in the past when I loaded the old Barnes blue coated bullets in 180 grain. In my 300 RUM I currently shoot the 200 AB with RL25. But I did try Ramshot Mag powder with the 200 AB. It is as you say a very accurate powder. But I could not get the velocity...
Tommer23,
I have used both the 225 AB and the Partition in my 35 Whelen for whitetail deer. My load clocks 2677 fps. Let me tell you it just clobbers deer buddy!! When you put one in the boiler room they typically don't get very far. It's either down and out or a very short distance is traveled...
The barrel on my 300 RUM is ported. I use plugs and muffs at the range. I use plugs hunting in Colorado hunting for Big Game there. The ported barrel helps me to manage recoil shooting 200 grain bullets.

When I lived in Colorado I was looking at scopes at Sportsman's Warehouse. I was able to take two scopes outside while accompanied by a sales rep. That really made the difference for me!
Don
Guy,
Your set ups look real good. I had the same thing done to my 300 RUM about 3-yrs ago.
Had the trigger reworked and set to 2.5 lbs. It tightened up my groups too!
Don
Guy,
That sounds like a good load to refine there. Nice velocity too!! I believe your rifle has a 24" barrel doesn't it? H4350 is my powder of choice for the 06!
Don
Not really looking for a FN bullet for the 30-06. Just the RN does intrigue me some what from the past experiences years ago. I'm likely to give the 170 RN 30-30 bullet some testing. When I do there will be a full report on results.
Don
Yes I agree with you about the fast expanding bullets and quick kills, something I experience using the totally awesome NBT. I must say I do recall one particular 8-point buck I killed with the 180 RN Hornady bullet. Shot was real close to 100 yds. It was a broadside shot but hit him far back on...
Scotty,
That's kinda what I was thinking too. I may get a box to try out some loads here soon.
Guy,
That bullet shot very well for me, good tight groups on paper, killed deer very well too.
The bullet held together good as well. My thought is the 170 RN Partition will with stand anything I...
I'm very satisfied with the current 180 BT load I'm using now. The thought of messing around with the 170 RN Partition was this, it is a Partition after all and should hold together better than ones that are not. Years ago I shot 180 Hornady RN out of my 06 going
approx. 2500-2600 fps, never...
I often have wondered what it would be like using the 30-30 170 Round Nose PT bullet in the 30-06 for Whitetails? Has anyone experimented with this combo or even use it at all in the 30-06??
Don
Scotty.
You know I like anything in 35 Caliber. That is a totally cool rifle my friend. The short magazine box is what I remember with the Rem. 600 rifles. 180 TTSX bullets at that speed will flatten deer! Nice shooting with the 60 grain load too.
Don
Thanks Guy!! That buck was a decent buck for our area, but I have some real bruisers on trail cam in the 19-20" spread range I was salivating over! Oh well if they made it through the season they should be bigger next year. I belong to private leased land, actually 3-tracts that are together...
The 180 Partition is a proven performer for sure. I like the powder you selected. It's done very well for me in the 30-06. I know you'll have that load perfected in no time!
