Yep. It's a shame Boxer/Big Stick is so caustic in his delivery. He does have lots of good info to share, but his approach is so offensive, most people duck and run and don't participate. Lot's of potentially informative threads have been derailed/ruined on the Campfire.
In addition, his never...
Thanks Guy's!
Is the reason for the difference in the max loads between wayno's and DrMike's data due to coal and or case volume? Noticed waynes case volume used was 59.97 vs Mikes at 57.04. Also, coal on Mikes was 3.10 vs 3.35 on waynes.
Had a first at the range today. Shooting a Mark V 270 Wby Mag, I put my first shot of the day down range and when I opened the bolt and pulled it back to extract...nothing! The empty shell casing was still in the chamber. Cycled the action and still no change. Used a cleaning rod and was able to...
Bruce,
Even though it's been discontinued recently(but plenty still seems to be available), take a look at IMR-4007ssc. Lots of folk, including myself, swear by this powder for their Swifts and 22-250's. I was a long time proponent of 4064, but since trying 4007, I've been a convert. It...
Hey guy's. I just picked up 2#'s of RL-33 at Cabelas and wanted to give it a whirl in my 257 and 270 Weatherby's. Unfortunately, I can't find any meaningful data. Would one of you QL guru's be so kind as to run some data for me on the following inputs? Thank you kindly, in advance.
257...
Firstly, thanks to Dr Mike and SJB358 for providing 240 Wby QL Data, which helped immensely in establishing a starting point for load development.
My goal was sub moa and 3300 fps with either the 105 VLD or Amax. I started with the VLD and 3 different powders..RL-25, RL-22 and Norma MRP. Since...
Great cartridge chioce Gerry.
Like dubyam, I also use 73.5 gr of IMR 7828ssc, but behind a 130 SST. This combo runs 3450 out of a 26 in barreld Marrk V.
Hi guy's. Just starting the load process for my new 6-06. Not sure if QL has data for the 6-06 though. If so, can one of you QL gurus run some data for me? If the 6-06 isn't available, can you run 240 Weatherby instead?
I would like info on the following data...
Brass: Rem 25-06 necked down to...
They've worked well on Hogs and Whitetails from my 257 Weatherby. I have no reservations whatsoever using them for my purposes.
Here's a repost from 12/1/12 in regard to one of my experiences with the 115 BST...
Below are a few pics of a 115 BST recovered from a little 8 pointer I shot a few...
I know, I know. I feel like I'm cheating on my wife. Besides Fotis, you'll probably not find a bigger Weatherby fanboy. I initially had my mind made up on the 240, but I had so much 25-06 brass on hand and from what I researched, the 6-06 had a smidge more case capacity so, I changed direction...
Yes, definitely a little overbore, but barrels are cheap. Plus, I'm use to shooting Weatherby's so burning 55 grains of powder as opposed to 70 will be an added bonus.
Thanks for the nice compliments guy's. I'm really excited about this rifle. The ballistics of a high BC 6mm bullet beyond 500 yards are eye opening. Puts lots of faster, bigger caliber cartridges to shame. My personal range limit for deer type game is 500 yds, although this rig may extend that...
Well, finally decided to drink the 6mm/243 Kool Aid. I've never owned a 6mm/.243 anything, so I had to see what all the hype was about and built a 6mm-06. :)
I had a Rem 700, 25-06 that hasn't seen much use lately, so decided to cannibalize the action and build a 6mm-06. Looked long and hard at...
Just thinking of the many possibilities a LRAB, .257 bullet, would offer for my 257 Roy. Hmmm, a 110-115 gr, .500 + BC bullet at 3400-3500 fps!!! Oh, the possibilities.
