@Blkram
Thank you for your recommendations, and I appreciate your response to my dilemma. I never expected to see a brand new box, or find a mfg date in 2025. But maybe that’s better!?! New barrel making equipment, I read that they are 5R type rifling.
My issue with the standard Ruger...
My 280 AI Jarrett shot the 168 FB TSX’s the best @ 0.00” believe it or not! No fliers, just rock solid consistency. So don’t always believe what they say, it would have saved a lot of time otherwise.
I wonder if Ruger uses the same barrel profile for the smaller caliber’s and/or enlarged them as they went up in sizes? This one looks like a #1. I would almost think they’d have too.
The Leica was just way too big due to the objective being 56mm, even in medium rings didn’t help. So I put a S&B Klassik 3-12x42 P3L I had for my 280AI when I needed a lit reticle for the Timber. Looks pretty good, but still a bit large for a tiny gun IMO.
I’d have to agree with JD. A short case design would help, I even have a 18.5” 308 that shoots way out there with 169 SMK’s behind H4895. Same for the older 168’s but they don’t do well past 800 yards. This is my second SBR at 18.5” and it’s been my favorite ever since.
That said, me...
Especially when I already have a bunch of scopes that all use a Picatinny Base. Most of them were never meant for a gun like this and would look terrible since it’s such a petit rifle. It truly needs something downsized to give it justice.
I’m cleaning the barrel from when Ruger test fired it…… It always amazes me when I get a new rifle and begin working up a load for it!
Obviously with all the 6.5mm/.264 caliber rifles that I’ve owned finding bullets for it shouldn’t be an issue. I figured that after breaking in the barrel...
I’ve read mixed reviews on how these particular rifles shoot?
The end cap is making contact with the barrel band, and the wood stock on both sides where the rear sight is attached to the barrel.
What’s odd is it came in a brand new box from Ruger stamped 01/29/25 and I looked up the...
Looks like H4831sc and the 175 LRAB is working well in your gun.
That’s what has worked well for me in my 280AI FMR too but with the 160 BT, Partitions and the AB too but just not as well.
I bought a 1,000 of these from RRP a few weeks ago and have since shot them out of my Afghan N4. I was able to quickly get them to work with IMR 8208 XBR in L.C. Brass @ 1.915” which puts them right on the top edge of the cannelure.
I haven’t shot them past 100 yards yet. That said I was...
07/18/25 New Lowered Price on the 260 Remington SAC Rifle.
$3,000.00 shipped plus you’ll get the brass, and a Type S Match die set with a Titanium bushing.
There’s a lot of coin tide up into what I’m giving away with this rifle that by the time I ship it the rifle cost is $2,500.00 now.
Ruger M77 Hawkeye RSI International 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser New Old Stock Factory New Condition!
These came with 1:8” twist 18.5” barrels too.
What should I do with this rifle?
A) Keep it in unfired condition and hope it goes up in value.
B) Shoot it and then go hunting with it.
C) Sell it to...
I have a 1-10x28 Credo Red/Green circle Mrad that is just fantastic for running game or long shots too!
It’s way better than the older ACOG scopes that I still use on a short range home defense rifle that has a RMR on top that allows me to roll the rifle left for my left eye to use since I’m...
They usually offer laundry service every day in camp, At least where I worked.
I just wasn’t happy about my white underwear being returned to me brown from the water when I told him not to touch my laundry! I am perfectly happy doing my own laundry, but I also wasn’t on a tight schedule or a...
Forster makes a great product Motor Mica for lubing the inside of the case neck. It works well and I’ve never experienced a problem with it in 25 years….. Powder contamination or grippy case necks that stick to the bullets over time.
It helps immensely when you wet tumble, or with new brass.
Yah, I’ve often felt that way too. It was living to feed the living…. Not any different than in the wild. Better than being run over by a vehicle, or Semi truck, or something else that takes a long time to die.
