I was curious about terminal performance. I had a 338 RUM for quite a few years and the 225gr Nos. Accubond was excellent. I moved up to the 300 gr Accubond and it was a little slow at downing game. Then the barrel wore out so I re-barreled to 300 RUM.
The light would be a stock under the factory synthetic at 2.25 lbs. The rifle, stock, scope and sling total 9 lbs and I'd like it to be 8.5 or less. I've carried it for a couple of hunts and it makes for a sore shoulder by the day's end. All my other rifles weigh 7.75 lbs. or less and I have no...
The 33 Nosler is a great round for a light rifle build. I bought a Tikka T-3 and had it re-barreled to 33 Nosler and had the 26 in. barrel turned down to a smaller diameter and a muzzle break added. It weighs 7.5 lbs with a 13 oz. scope on it. It shoots half inch groups with 210 gr Sciroccos at...
The 338 RUM with 230 gr. bullet is going over 3000 fps. The ELDX is a very accurate bullet but it's not bonded. Close shots on game, especially dangerous game could be a problem of fast expansion and little penetration.
good luck

Kimber Mtn Ascent. Nosler 180 gr. Accubond. 59.5 gr. Superformance. CCI 200 Primer. Oal 3.34. 5 shot avg. 3005 fps. (really). I just shot to 460 yards and it actually shot a 1.25" group at that range.
Superformance is my go to powder in several calibers.
