50 gr Sierra Varminter or Blitzking for Coyote in 22-250?

I've used the 55 gr blitz in a .223 with great success , at 22-250 velocitys I have no doubt you will drop coyotes . I just hope you weren't planning on saving hides.

What & where did you draw this year?

Looks like I'm to be head guide and bottle washer again. I never drew a thing other then my save a doe tag . My nephew drew cow moose, and my good buddy drew cow moose. I guess I will be chasing elk with my bow, that's a tough hunt around here and I will need some luck like last year. Was...

.300 Savage 130 grain TSX or TTSX for elk?

I'm with Taylor here too, again speed and monos go hand in hand. Shoot the 130 , get comfortable with it and go hunting. As for nobody using 130 gr bullets to kill elk well that's a misnomer, I'd be pretty confident in saying many many elk have died to a 130 gr bullet . Maybe very few in .30...

.300 Savage 130 grain TSX or TTSX for elk?

Keep in mind that sectional density only applies to a bullet prior to impact, assuming a non-solid/expanding bullet is used. Once it impacts the target and begins to open up, the SD goes right out the window because the rate of expansion is variable. Using SD as the principal variable of...

What & where did you draw this year?

Talked with my buddy from Speedy Creek, after 12 yrs he finally drew for moose, and after 10 he also drew an elk( cypress hills) . And he drew mule deer around home. Sask ( to me) has a messed up way of drawing and both the elk and moose draw open and close at the same time , makes it real...

    What caused this???

It seems like Win let quite a few bad ones off the line without catching it. Been a lot of complaints up this way too. During the primer shortage a few years ago a got my hands on a bunch of WLR and WSLR primers. To date I have had zero trouble with them, but I have since bought a bunch of fed...

.300 Savage 130 grain TSX or TTSX for elk?

I think the 130 will serve you well. I agree when starting off youngsters that consistency , and the feel at the bench should be the same as on a hunt. That instills confidence, which then produces the desired result be it acceptable groups or animals in the freezer.

.300 Savage 130 grain TSX or TTSX for elk?

The only problem with that is your limiting your effective range by quite a margin, if 1800 fps is mininum fps for proper expansion . With any mono metal bullet I like starting them off at or near the 3000 fps and above. This insures they should upset as expected. If a 150 gr bullet was on...

    6mm Remington

With your original question of elk with the 6 , I'd say you bet . There are caveats though, shots I would say max 200 yrds preferably less, broadside shots only, I would treat it much more like bowhunting and make sure to be patient enough for a good clean shot. For myself and reasons above is...

.300 Savage 130 grain TSX or TTSX for elk?

Those should do the trick, and they should be zipping along quite nicely even with a mild load. Good luck to the both of you.

.300 Savage 130 grain TSX or TTSX for elk?

I would surmise if the 130 gr/ .277 has worked well for years, that a 130 gr tsx in .308 would work equally as well. Hornady also makes a GMX in lighter weights in .308! And a 140 gr mono- flex bullet which is a Hy- brid bullet mono metal (gmx) with the flex tip to be loaded in the 308 marlin...

    "Free" Nosler Bullets!

Hey there are no free lunches in this world ! I figure the time spent developing a load and loading 20 years ago at 1.5/yr inflation , plus time disassembling now and sorting components . Yep your into those bullets for 2$-no 20$- no 200$ per hour. Haha

    300 zero for hunting

I've been doing a 250yrd zero in the last few years. It seems to work well for a good MPBR and for my area rifle shots can be from 20-400 yrds .

So what are you using this year???

I'm not sure exactly what I will have oppurtunitys for this fall, but am optimistic I will finally pull a bull moose tag . If I do I hope to use my bow and take one during calling season. I'm also plan on trying for an archery elk again , hope to put this new APA Mamba to good use. I should...

    2015 Colorado Elk Season

Good luck with the hunt. Not sure how you scored such an air fair , you would spend well over a 150$ in fuel just driving easily. Hopefully your luck continues and the bulls are bugling.
