Brass can make a difference in precision

Years ago, Federal in the red and white box was good brass. Anymore the primer pocket loosens up after a couple firings. Have seen this in different calibers. Sometimes it is just getting a bad lot of the more common brands. Do agree that Lapua and Norma are worth the price.

The allure of the Marlin in 35

35 Rem is hard to beat for a woods caliber. I was a late user of it but do like it now. Try Hodgdon LVR sometime. It does real well in the 35Rem.

What did you use to kill your first deer?

December 1980 antlerless season in Hardy County about 5 hour drive from home. Our area had no such seasons on does at the time and buck season was as usual a bust so four of us headed north with our permits. Afternoon of the second day walking out a logging road in the national forest I jumped a...

Help me decide on a new rifle caliber

If you have your elk hunt covered and IF you will primarily use for deer than just get something more for that critter. Case in point. Last year a nephew went to CO totting his 28 Nosler, got a descent 5x5. He had used it here in WV on deer at a farm where shots can be 400-500 yds. Yeah places...

Yeah, Hodgdon has done this started back couple annuals ago with the 6.x55 and others. Just an example of print verses online. Still like having a book to read and look at.

So Glad That I Tried Different Rifle Cartridges & Loads!

Guy, I appreciate your insight and wisdom as well as others who share their experiences. Like you I have had fun and been able to gain some knowledge along the way by trying different calibers and guns. As a young man starting my railroad career, I was cut off some and therefore didn't have much...

Ok, at the current time I am able to access Midway site through my desktop thanks to son Ben who cleared out the browsing history. Don't know if that was the problem but it is corrected for now. I want to make it understood that Midway doesn't seem to have been the problem and their customer...
