I was looking at some other bullets I have that might actually work even better than the Nosler Protected Point for short mag boxes like the Sako A7.Even though the Protected Point is shorter at the tip,it still has the issue of the ogive of the bullet getting into the short neck of the 300 Win...
I have some of those Protected Point Partitions.Yes,they were made for the 300 Win Mags with short mag boxes.A lot of those mag boxes are around 3.400.I think a lot of short mag boxed rifles were chambered for the 300 Win Mag because Saami specs. are 3.340 for the cartridge,so in theory it...
I have a Sako A7 Long Range with the 26" heavy fluted barrel.I never could get it to shoot that good seated deep.In fact,in order for it to function in the short magazine box,it has to be seated less than 3.300.The 180gr Nosler Ballistic Tips were seated so deep in the case,I could push the...
My rifles that I've checked with my borescope using a full length empty case show a generous amount of room for the case to grow beyond the max case length.I just make trimming every time a part of my case prep since I got my Frankford Arsenal Trim and Prep Center.I like to keep all my brass...
Never judge recoil with velocity.I've experienced quite the contrary.I've had some recoil that felt rather sporty and velocity was rather disappointing.Reloader 22 in the 7mag feels rather mild to me.
66.0grs of Reloader-22 is a standard load I've used in several 7mags with 160gr bullets.Velocity did vary between rifles. The one with the slowest velocity was also the rifle that shot better with a .5gr more powder with out any pressure indications. So I think you are spot on with your load.As...
Beautiful Pre-64 300 H&H.The 300 Win Mag has a useful case capacity of 5.62cc,the 300 H&H has a useful case capacity of 5.33cc,the 308 Norma Magnum has a useful case capacity of 5.18cc and the 300WSM has a useful case capacity of 4.91cc,so it's really near twins are the 300 H&H and the 308 Norma...
Just checked the case volumes of some cases.Cases are Winchester 7mag necked to 30cal,Remington 7mag necked to 30cal and a 308 Norma Mag case all trimmed to 2.494.Winchester case weighed 238.0grs,Remington case weighed 233.5grs and Norma case weighed 226.9grsThe Winchester case was the heaviest...
A few things for thought, every rifle is different, bullets are different, powder lots are different, primers are different and cartridge case capacities can be a lot different too.I load 66.0grs of Reloader 22 in my three 7mags with 160gr Accubonds.I use Remington cases,WLRM primers,I'm off the...
I'm beginning to feel like somebody doesn't want people who shoot big guns to have any bullets or primers for them.Seems like plenty available if you shoot a 5.56,22lr or pistols, but if you are shooting a cartridge in 7mm or 30cal and you want a Nosler bullet for it,you've been S.O.L. for a...
I like 150gr Nosler Ballistic Tips or 160gr Accubonds in my 7mags,I have three.
With 150gr I load 67.5grs of Reloader 22 or 69.0grs of Reloader 26
With 160gr I load 66.0grs of Reloader 22 or 67.5grs of Reloader 26
That's not too bad of a jump.If it shoots well at max mag box length, work with it there and don't worry that your well off the lands.I have several rifles with the same issue. The worse on I have is a Sako A7 in a 300 Win Mag.To get it to feed from the magazine, the bullet has to be seated below...
Yep,he dropped on the spot.I like shooting them high because I don't want to have to chase or track them in the thorny South Texas brush.I was hunting south of Corpus Christi,Texas. Those 180gr Ballistic Tips are some tough bullets.I shot a stag last year with one out of my 300 Win Mag,breaking...
