I'm running a 2012 F150 4WD with a 5.0. I've spoken with a relative who has worked at the Ford plant for a good number of years and his comment was the 5.0 is the best motor that Ford has ever produced. It is also one of the oldest models and holds its own against all other production units...
Actually I've been using IMR 4350 in my 225 Partition and Prohunter loads. My velocity is just under 3000 and the load has taken a number of Elk. Accuracy is 1 1/2 inches at 200 yards.
Thank you for posting that comment. I tried Accubonds in my .338RUM and could not get them to shoot to the accuracy level I was looking for. The partition on the other hand did an excellent job both in the accuracy Department and the Elk Department.
I guess I'm going to be old School here and state one bullet, and that would be the partition. I've used them over a lot of years and they do exactlly what their supposed to do. I've pulled deer and Elk out of the woods many times with this bullet.
Agree completely Jim. My Doctor has forbidden me to scale the heights but my M700 in.338RUM 225 Grain either Partition or Pro Hunter would be first at hand.
I tried Barnes when they first came out and the fouling was terrible. I've shot Sierra for many years and found fouling at a minimum. I've had very good luck with the old style bullets and am somewhat hesitant to get rid of what works.
With your .38 Super you're headspacing off the mouth. Enough crimp to straighten the mouth plus a bit extra to hold the bullet in place. A Lee factory crimp die would solve a lot of issues and hold the bullet in place real well.
I had just gotten my official detachment papers from the US Navy and was busy being married and co-raising two children. I worked for the Electrolux Vacum cleaner company as a quality control technician, didn't like my job and was busy contemplating becoming a Police officer, which, in the long...
Living in Florida absolutely requires some type of Humidity protection. I use a golden rod and beads to keep everything dry in my safe. A wipe down once a month also helps things.
That reminds me of the operation I had on the 6th of May. Cardiologist tells me I have a 95 percent blockage in the right Carotid. OK I said what do we do. She says we remove the blockage. The surgeon tells me the operation is serious and what he's going to do to correct it. I have the surgery...
Guy, a good friend of mine (retired Deputy Sheriff) travelled to Texas to hunt Nilgai. He took his 06 and Nosler 180 grain partitions. The bullets worked perfectly and he brought home some excellent tasting meat. (I've had my fair share) I don't know the range the animal was taken but everything...
I had the same issue coming back from an Elk Hunt in New Mexico. I was given a box of 180 grain Sierra BTSP's from the guide that assisted us with the hunt. I went through the check in at the airport and watched as my carry on bag went through X-ray. The little mexican fellow looked, looked...
Over the years I've run the total gamut of Rifle Scopes. In the old days had very good luck with the Rectangular Eyepiece Redfields. Low power Weavers for my Woods Deer Rifles. I used a Nikon 1X4 on a Ruger Deerstalker carbine. Over the years I transitioned to Leupold with a 2.5X8 on my 7-08. A...
In Florida the Governor plus a lot of sheriffs stated that if you are travelling in your motor vehicle and come upon these people and they block you off and attempt physical harm you can step on the gas and run as many over as required to leave the scene. I noticed we had a group of about 50 in...
