I think you'll find that most Elk taken with a 30.30 are 100 yards or less. Many years ago I took a bull moose with a Marlin 336 in .35 Remington. Shot was approximately 40 yards. Moose went down rather quickly. Within their range limitations they work very well.
I started using them in my Model 94 .32 special when they came out. Accuracy is good and they definitely do drop deer. Feeding with the pointed tip is also more reliable.
I've always had great performance with partitions. Maybe not quite as accurate as some other Nosler bullets but plenty accurate enough. Their performance in my .338RUM was unmatched.
Very interesting comments. All I ever used over the years was a standard crosshair. I sighted my .338RUM for 200 yards and then shot it out to 400 yards to establish drop. My longest shot was on a Bull Elk at 326 yards. I held what I felt was six inches and the Elk dropped at the shot. I don't...
When you have the roofer walking around on your roof and he has a hammer in his back pocket you can be assured it's there for no good reason. The insurance company approves the work and then jacks your rates up to never never land. They never lose. You have to remember the insurance company is...
Jim, this is a big topic in Florida. The Roofers (independent companies) will knock on your door telling you that you have roof damage (usually hail damage) and say that they can get you a new roof through your insurance company. "they will handle all the details" My neighbor was approached and...
Whatever you do don't come to Florida. When I first moved here in 99 my insurance was $800.00. Year after year it gradually creeped up till I was paying $2000.00 A year. In the last three years it has gone from two Grand to Nine grand and up. Needless to say I can't afford that price and I'm now...
Guy you're not going to believe this but I have and "old" Weaver K3 that has been bounced around on a number of rifles and I have never had a problem with maintaining a zero on it. The scope does what it is told and just keeps on trucking along.
Jim, I purchased mine from Bass Pro Shop approximately two years ago. A great piece of equipment. You can adjust blade angle and sharpen just about any blade that needs it.
Scotty, you're mentioning the right bullet but along with that you're going to need adequate velocity to make that bullet work. That also means you are going to need a lighter bullet to get that velocity at the further distance. The wonder bullets we have now work if their pushed hard enough. I...
Jim, Obama is pissed because he didn't get his fourth term in office and be able to complete his vision of what he and Soros thought this country should look like.
you're echoing my thoughts exactly. There was time when every New Years Eve we went out to dinner and then enjoyed a Noisy evening to celebrate the New Year. As we age our brain/body gets smarter and says go out for dinner and then enjoy New Years at home. Then you get to a point where you...
A lot of good information for Elk Loads. My only thought would be when you're out over three hundred yards you are stretching it for the 7MM-08. A good friend of mine shot a nice Bull Elk at 346 yards using a partition and the performance wasn't what he expected. The Elk was hit in a good spot...
