I shot a couple Speer 300 grain Jacket soft point "Plinkers" out of the 444 into the jugs today. Lost the first as is it skirted out the side of jug #5. I caught the second in the bottom of #6. It weighed 251.2 for a retained weight of 83.7%> It expanded to 0.899. The load is 45.0 Grains of...
I shot a few 64 BSB's today out of my M595 tikka 223. Loaded with 26g of CFE223 powder at 2.205 OAL. Found it in the 4th jug, weighed 54.8 for 86% weight retention. Expanded diameter of 0.459
For those who "Hunt" with a .22 cal, this is a mean little bullet.
Seems like the jacket is brittle. They look impressive at the optimum speed. It appears to me 2500ish is not fast enough to get good expansion and 2900ish was to much. I'm sure they will still knock a whitetail down.
Fotis, I got them as a gift. I have very little info on them. I can look for a BC on the box tonight, I do not see it on the website.

2900 with a 200 is doable in a Whelen.
I shot a couple 200 grain Rhino's into the jugs this week.
The first load was stiff.. guessing 2900ish. It broke off three of the 4 petals. It ruptured the sixth jug but was dumped out of jug #5.
The second load was my Whelen pussycat load. I load this when my girl wants to shoot the bigger...
I received quiet a shock last week. A friend brought over his 44 mag and was shooting in the yard. For grins I lined up a few jugs and had him shoot them. Having shot jugs with the 444 Marlin the previous week using the sierra 250 grainers and going 5 jugs, I predicted 3-4 jugs.. Boy was I...
I re-ran this test...
Using Scotty's Gun, and rounds he loaded but I got slightly different results. I ONLY got 5 jugs and it retained 217.0 grains. It must have been the hard water here.
OH! forgot to mention, the frontal diameter is .837 !! Wow
250 grain hornady round nose.. I was surprised that this bullet only went 5 jugs, but it did get pretty wide in the front.. Weighed 144.2 for 58% retained weight. frontal area measured .654
I previously built a "rig" to hold my jugs.. I have caught a LOT of bullets in it from my 35 Whelen and my 338WM.. the rig has never had a problem..
I shot a 132 grain BBC out of my 16.5" barreled 7mm-08 and the displaced water busted both side rails on my rig. I think that says a lot about the...
