Neck Tension and Seating Force - UPDATE

Sako2, thank you for your comment. I have been meaning to order a VLD chamfer tool for some time, but I keep forgetting to add it my orders. I can see what you see in the photos. However, it must be an anomaly of the photographs. I closely inspected the loaded bullets and could not see any...

Neck Tension and Seating Force - UPDATE

Every bullet fired from a rifle is going to have rifling marks. That is not something that the reloader can control. The seating stem marks are something that the reloader can control. The Hornady 6.5mm, 130 gr. ELD-M bullets have a very soft (thin) jacket. I sure as heck am not going to...

Neck Tension and Seating Force - UPDATE

"What We Found Some bullets require significantly more pressure to seat properly, which can lead to impressions forming on the bullet Any case requiring over 125 lbs of seating force was more likely to leave a noticeable ring on the bullet. Reducing neck tension resulted in lower seating force...

Neck Tension and Seating Force - UPDATE

I had been loading some Hornady 130 gr. ELD-M bullets in my 6.5 CM and was getting significant marks on the bullet from the seating stem. So, I sent some bullets and cases to Forster Products with a request for a custom honed seating stem. When they had finished the work (about one week)...

    New to the site.

Welcome to the forum. You can find a lot of good information here. I just completed load development (at least for this year) on a BLR chambered in 358 Win. My post is probably just a few lines down.

Glad you and Sue were able to reduce the garden marauders. Lucky for the seedlings that you didn't pull out the 338 RUM or 375 H&H.

    Garden Raider 2025

Question: "How much lead could a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck lead?" Answer: Less than 140 grains, since 140 grains would be a lethal dose.

    Carbon buildup and Reloder 16?

I have used Reloder 16 in 300 WSM and 6.5 CM. I never noticed a difference in buildup compared to others. But, I clean with Wipe-Out frequently, like every 15 to 20 rounds.

    BLR - 358 Win.

It turns out that I had more RL-7 than I realized. At only 39 grains per load a half pound goes quite a ways. I shot the load again yesterday and verified a 100 yard zero. Then I loaded up the remaining prepped brass for this year's hunting. I will still have enough powder for another batch...

    BLR - 358 Win.

I have been working on a load for my BLR chambered in 358 Win. I started with the Hornady 200 gr. RN and transitioned to the Hornady 200 gr. SP bullet. I tried a few different powders including Reloder 7, H-4198, H-4895. Below are a couple of interesting targets with the 200 gr. SP, Reloder...
