Guilty As Charged...They spend most of their time in Closet/Safe.
I use the 6.5 Creed as a teaching rifle and let people use it for hunting.
With Rapid City, SD opening a new range later in the the summer, they will have 600 yard F-Class matches.
Probably 600 yard BR as well.
I will grab a...
I should have made a note, that in the above list, five of them are custom rifles:
308 Winchester F-TR Rifle
284 Winchester F-Open Rifle
The last three are left hand actions
6.5 Creedmoor built by Darrel Holland
6.5x47 Lapua
6XC
See, I have RIFLES 😇
This probably says it better than my earlier post.
Work “backwards”.
Aim your gun on the target. Get the correct picture. Pull it back to your chest. Push it back out.
Is the dot where it’s supposed be? If yes, squeeze the trigger, as your “reward.”
Do it again. Dot NOT on target? NO...
Well..............IF, you want to shoot steel and pd's at distance we can upgrade to a custom XP??? 😇
WY-SHOT is coming up soon, and I have loaner specialty pistols.
Steel from 150ish to over 1300 yards with specialty pistols--What's not to love:)
If it is for personal defense, you must be committed to practicing your presentation.
Something to do on a very regular basis.
You need to train your brain (Practice your draws), until you are automatically on the red dot, and you are not looking for it any more.
There is a side benefit to this...
100/200 BR or 600/1000 BR?
The word, "Budget" and the word, "Benchrest" do not belong in the same sentence 😇
I would look for a used benchrest rifle on Accurate Shooter forum or go to some BR matches, and you will likely find some there.
It will be the closest thing to "Budget" you will find...
How many here have 16"-16.5" (Even 17" info appreciated) 6.5 PRC's, shooting 130-140 grain bullets?
With these bullet weights in mind, I am considering H-4350, H-4831sc and RL 26.
Actual velocities with the brass/powder/bullet combinations you have would be appreciated.
I have all three of the...
Thank you.
For reference below, here is some actual MV's on various 6.5-284's.
I used to have a 15" (Krieger 8T) 6.5-284, that ran 130 Berger's at 2700 fps.
17" 6.5-284 usually runs 140's from around 2665 to 2750 fps.
The two fastest 17" 6.5-284's ran 140's at 2750 and 2785 feet per second. All...
I would do a Whelen, just because....It is simple as that.
I would usually have a number of reasons for a choice.
The only reason I might do something different (Which won't apply to you), is that mine would be a in a XP-100, so a 35 WSM or SAUM would be more likely for me.
DA/Density Altitude for the technologies & Apps that use it, is the easiest.
But I do it the other way as well.
Then you have the actual drops on paper or steel, which is the reality in those moments, combined with the wind/& terrain features
