I found it patterns a little loose at 40 yds with the Federal turkey loads. Will be trying other brands to see if it tightens up. As far as recoil weighing in at 10lbs eats that up.
As mentioned above , load to mag length. If single feeding isn’t an issue for you , then start 0.020” off and work from there. I have many rifles I single feed.

With a 32” barrel I’m thinking...
I recently received some 250gr T-Rex .375 bullets I got off of GB. I bought them at a good price to fire form my 378 Wby brass when I get my rifle completed. They look like they might do some serious damage on game when they open up. With 3 long cuts to aid expansion , I might have try them out...
I feel your pain. I had high hope on this year’s bear season and so far it’s a bust. When I started baiting I have 4 different bear coming in and they were eating me dry. Starting in mid August they pulled up shop. Now I’m lucky to get one hit a week. With only a 40 acre woods there isn’t a lot...
I really became fond of the 416 Wby and 350gr TTSX. This combo has filled the freezer for several years. I like rotating firearms to give each one an opportunity to evaluate their performance.
