416 Wby is my favorite hunting rifle , you will enjoy the rifle. Unfortunately I mainly run RL-26 in mine , bought a case of it when I got the rifle. I did work with Hybrid 100V with the 350gr Mag Tips. If you do a search on this forum I have most of my load work up on here.
Thanks Jim.
I have tomorrow off , going to be out at first light.
Lets see , I’ve got tags for bear , deer and turkey hopefully something is going in the freezer this weekend🤞
I seem to remember when Weatherby started to chamber the 338 Lapua in the MarkV people were having issues with Hornady brass sticking in the chamber. They must cut their chambers on the tight side.
Hopefully the newer ammo will solve your issue.
After work I went and sat out in one of my new blinds. It was a chilly 80* 😁 and had 6 deer come in.
I ‘m going to throw a plug in for the TIDEWE see thru ground blind and Bog’s Deathgrip tripod. Both of these are new to me this year and one outing I’m impressed.
2555 is pretty stout for 16” barrel with 172 grs.
Ernie it just amazes me your level of accuracy with those pistols. I’m happy if I can hold 1 MOA with either of mine.
A lot of times the top BT node is slightly above maximum pressure. I’ve had decent luck splitting the difference , adding 2 consecutive node together and dividing by 2 and find the middle of a node. Most times backing down to the next one is the best option. Before ordering a barrel I mock up...
With a lot of newer powders that are available one can increase velocity safely. Not sure increasing pressure 25,000 psi is worth it. Probably a good thing reloading this caliber is next to impossible or someone will be swallowing a bolt.
I’m 50 bullets into this load. Some time back (it’s in this post) JD gave me some 250gr Speers. That was a piece of cake to make a good load. So I know it’ll shoot 250s.
