    Do you recall your firsts?

Steven’s youth rolling block 22. I would pack it around while hunting with my dad around Fairbanks. Shot a bunch of ducks, grouse, ptarmigan, moose, caribou and one grizzly. Early 60s time frame. Of course I had a little help from dad on the bigger stuff. :) He would shoot then I would shoot...

    loading deer

I gotta start hunting with you guys. I was scouting yesterday. Found elk and deer which is good. Hiked at a ridge above the north fork of the John Day. Saw a good bull bedded about 1/2 way down to the river. Ballistic distance was about 200 yards, vertical was right at 800 feet. That is steep...

Ruger M77 RSI International 6.5x55mm ***SOLD***

My 06 is a Ruger 77, the first year they were produced. Owned a bunch over the years. I would bet if all the guides in Alaska lined their rifles up on the wall, by a significant number Ruger 77 would be the most used.

    Living Large

Blueberry are usually larger and more abundant where they grow. In Alaska we had blue berry all over in the Tundra this time of year. Scoop them up by the handful while hiking. Bears like them too. Huckleberry is labor intensive, harder to pick and find than blueberry.

Kinda surprised by the lack of velvet also.
