Hey there,
Just picked up my new Savage 12 FV from Cabela's, broke it in a bit with factory PPU ammo. I think with good hand loads this rifle will shoot bug holes.
So tonight after doing the final clean down, I stuck my Hornady modified case in the chamber with a 50gr Zmax barely poking out...
Haha I know the feeling. My shooting buddies all scoff at me that I only shoot reloads, then they bring their one box of ammo for their hunting rifle, and I open up one of the many 100 round boxes I have for my hunting rigs and out shoot them just due to the fact I shoot my hunting ammo very...
It's been awhile since I've shot a moose but I wouldn't think twice about it. I don't know if it would exit but I think it would bust through the shoulder and scramble some soft tissue in the engine room, and probably exit the chest cavity.

Every large animal I've shot besides one has been with the Accubond, just heard reports the new ones are a bit soft for the closer shots. My rifle now shoots a zeroed 150 Swift 1.5" high and my ABLR are dead center. Doesn't get much better than that

77.9 grains
Went through a milk jug, Arizona tea jug sideways, 40lb kitty litter bucket and punctured into the second 40 lbs bucket. That's all at 50 yards. Should work great no matter the distance.

So this morning I went out with a random load for the 7RM, 68.0gr Retumbo with the 175 LRAB, max on Hodgdon site for the Partition at around 50k CUP, so I felt comfortable starting there. Norma brass, 0.015" off the lands. Only shot three rounds, all over the magnetospeed for 2915 with an es of...
Hey there,
Just wondering if anyone could run a look at the 338 Federal in quick load for me?
Starline brass, internal capacity of 54.5gr H2O
200 gr Speer Hot Cor
2.810"
Not sure on primers yet
Fired from a 20" barrel.
Looking at H335 vs AR Comp primarily. H335 is my go to for my bolt with...
I've got a box of ELD-X and two boxes of ABLR, all in 175 gr flavor. Got six boxes of 150gr Swift Scirocco II's and they shoot half MOA, so I never got to test the ABs.

Safety issues arise when you shove the bullet into the lands. It sounds like you may load long for one rifle since you single fed for the Varget load, so why not seat out a bit further for the 4064? Usually the advice on this forum is pretty solid, haven't been lead astray yet.
As a side note...
I shoot the 338-06 and the 225 NAB, it's accurate as can be for what it is. Used RL17 and can move those suckers right up near 338 WM speeds. Haven't taken any game with it yet, but will eventually. It's a great round though!

47.8 is my max, but damn isn't it moving. I got a faint extraction mark there and my velocity was much higher than predicted @ 2755. I loaded for flat spot, starting 47.6 to 49.0. only shot the first two. Going to do load devolvement with 47.5 and adjust COAL to find my load. Same 100 yard POI...
My guess is that most 338 bullets are tough, so anyone shooting a 338 Federal knows to go with the "fastest" opening, read also: lowest expanding velocity, since most bullets are built for much higher velocity. Add in that some places restrict lead, classic cup and core are out, and you want to...
Well I found them quicker than I thought I would. I have no idea what the powder is. When I pulled one, there was only 43.2gr in it. Long grains, doesn't look like H4831 unless they shortened the original length on the non SC kernals. I don't have 3031 to compare to, but an old Sierra manual...
I took a cow moose at 217 yards with my 30-06 and 200gr ABs, loaded in front of H4831. This was ten years ago, my father loaded the ammo for me since I was between deployments and didn't have a heck of a lot of time, nor was I the loader I am today. I still have a few of those rounds, but the...
7mm Rem Mag, 67.0gr H4831 SC, Fed 215 primer, 0.100" off the lands, muzzle velocity of 3110.
Shot at 100 yards, went through five jugs, started going a bit off a straight path at jug 4, just hit the handle of the fifth milk jug, found in the berm behind the jugs.
129.9gr retained weight...
My hunting load is 46.5gr of H335 with the 180gr Accubond, loaded to 2.885" for 2735fps. It's subMOA in my M77 with a 22" barrel.
Recovered weight was 146gr, 130 yards quartering towards me, went through approximately 22-23" of deer.
