My Sigs which are the P238 and the P229 in 40 cal are what I use for daily carry / home self defense. For those pistols I just use iron sights and the Crimson Trace laser grips. I can easily put the laser dot on any target quick and only downside is that its hard to see the laser dot on a bright...
Emailed Kimber asking some questions if my Kimbers can have those slides milled to adapt the optic sights and they said no because there is a safety mechanism under the rear sight and to use a aftermarket dovetail mount which I found some on the internet. I'll wait till tomorrow and contact them...
That is nice. It's cool to anneal your own brass. When I first started annealing, I was pretty scared to see whether I do it right or not that I spend a lot of time adjusting the flame and case height on the BenchSource to direct the flame at the junction of the shoulder and neck. I started with...
At our age, our eyesight is declining to focus clearly like when we all were young. I had a severe eye infection on my right eye when I used a pressure washer to clean my boat about 20 years ago, there was a stubborn dried up shrimp head on the deck and the high pressure ( 3600 psi ) blew it...
I have not tried any other powder in the 308 besides Varget and IMR 4064. It shoots well with Varget for me that I have never switched to any other powder, works great from 150 to 178 grains for me. I have yet to try the 180 Ballistic Tips, I'm sure I can make it shoot. ;)
My Rem 700 300 Win Mag used to be a 7mm STW with the push feed magazine before I converted it. I would start by checking the maximum box length, and seat the 165 -180 grain bullets about .020" shorter and work a load from there. The Accubonds and Ballistic Tips can be seated long to get close to...
I used Hoppes, Butch Bore Shine, Wipe Out foam and some Sweets for many years before I settled with Bore Tech products, I currently use Eliminator for normal cleaning, Carbon Remover for tougher carbon and Copper Remover for copper. I don't really need to vigorously clean my bores unless...
Good to hear you a 308 / 6.5 Creed fan as well, I love my .308 GAP and 6.5 Creed. Don't miss out on the 6.5 x 284 as well, they are sweet. Easy to find killers loads for them too! I just need a 30-06 or the wildcats 06 in my arsenal and don't get me started yet. 😁
I never had any issues finding blood trails with the 6.5 Creedmoor. I have used 120 grain Ballistic Tips, 143 ELD-X and the 147 ELDM, all deer dropped fast and a few have run off with double lung shots, and never went far. Blood trails were good, and I have used the 178 ELDM with my .308, and...
I love my GA Precision 308 Crusader, shoots like a dream. Currently using 178 ELD-M with 43.8 grains of Varget, a hair over 2750 fps. I was banging 8 inch steel at 800 yards, love hearing the ding a few seconds after the hit. The 178 ELDM is deadly on whitetails, never went far with pass...
I never liked the pilots making groove marks on the inside of the case necks either, nor cranking. I went with the Giraud and its fast and I can do a hundred cases in less than 15 minutes. A Sinlclair Wilson trimmer is nice where you do not need to use pilots.
