Thanks!
To update I called RCBS today. They said they would be happy to polish the die if I send it to them, and turnaround should be 2-3 weeks.
Or if I wanted to try myself to get some emery paper or 600 grit sandpaper and get to polishing with a dowel or something.
I happened to have some...
I know! Hopefully the wind is moderate this weekend and I can get out again. I have some decent velocity indications from the other day, maybe time to try out a ladder.
Ladies and gents,
I have an RCBS Form/Trim die set used to make 7 Mashburn Super Mag brass from 300 Win Mag.
When I run a case through the Form/Trim dies the cases come out with scratches. Can I do anything to stop the scratches from happening? Should I call RCBS and ask them?

Others have said--no reason to get a new press to make higher quality ammunition. The one you have now will do everything you need!
But that doesn't mean I'm not telling you to get a new one. Maybe you just want one, and that may be enough reason. Maybe there's something about yours that's...
Yoda,
I measured my bullet OAL and it’s just about the same as yours, 3.164.
What powder/charge are you using to get 3300 fps? That’s smoking!

Yoda, I have considered throating out a couple rifles and in the end (once I considered the cost) decided it wasn't worth it. The gain might be 50-100 fps, and the cost is pretty high! Not to mention if you have a good chamber now, but the 'smith makes a mistake, they could ruin a great rifle...
I guess the Mashburn is a Wildcat, so I’ll chime in.
It certainly does nothing today that other cartridges can’t do. The 7 Weatherby and 7 Dakota are similar in performance. The 7 STW a bit bigger case even. And even the good old 30-06 isn’t far behind any 7 or 300 mag out there.
For on game...
Took some more measurements this morning after having some time.
The H4895 youth load brass has tighter necks (necks didn’t expand as much) and the concentricity of the fired brass is pretty terrible! I’m guessing the youth loads don’t generate enough pressure to really make the brass expand...
I've been pretty consistently making small amounts of 7 Mashburn brass (from original case 300 Win Mag), anticipating a new 7 Mashburn this late spring/summer. The Mashburn on the way will add to the already one I have.
I have also been wondering how to fire form brass best. The best way to...
Thanks for your post, I’m going to check one of my bullets vs stem and see what there is to see! Makes complete sense.

Gotcha, yep the O Ring is a no go with the Co Ax.
Can you use a normal 223 seater for the AI version?
If you are out of options I’ve heard good things about Whidden custom dies.

SHM I have tried Lee seaters in a couple cartridges and it’s not my preferred. I haven’t noted very good concentricity using them.
The first thing I would recommend is to try an O Ring. That experiment will cost the least and sometimes I have outstanding results. The O Ring helps the die float...
I ended up about 55 grains of RL26 for 3200 fps with a 110 ELDX. This rifle doesn't show early pressure signs, could be above max. I would guess you'd be able to get to 3100 fps with a 120.

I would load brass 100 times if the primer pockets were tight, minimally sized every time, annealed often.
In reality I don’t think I’ve seen brass loaded more than 10 or 15 firings before I have some reason to toss it.
