switching from H4831SC to H4831 for better case fill

No opinion on the 6.5x284 and H4831, but I will say H4831 and the 25-06 and 30-06 have been good to me. No problems with case fill, I use a drop tube for the 30-06.

    RL26 finish off load question

I took the 30-06 with 200 ELDXs out today. Windy at the range here, but I want to verify the load before I take it out for elk. As it gets colder I'll likely reverify/mess with it some more if needed. I also need to shoot it at longer ranges. But today it's good. 60.5 RL26, CCI250 primers...

TRUE BC of an Accubond Lr?

I wonder if the higher velocity and shorter flight time makes the apparent BC higher?

TRUE BC of an Accubond Lr?

In addition to hunter24605's comment, which is good for the BC compromise: I would use the G7. Bryan Litz in "Applied Ballistics for Long Range Shooting" discusses the difference between the form factor of a bullet and the relationship to G1 and G7 BCs. Short version, if you want LR...

    175 RDF Load Data

I don't mind a little powder crunch, so long as I can get consistent seating depths. Sometimes I try a load that I have a hard time getting consistent seating depth because the case has so much powder it's tough to seat the bullet.

    RL26 finish off load question

Here's the 25-06. All 4-shot groups. Upper left, 0.01 off the lands. Top right, 0.05. Bottom left, 0.09. Bottom right about 0.075. I was going to try 0.13 in the bottom right but I run out of bearing surface; the bullet is seated too far in the case. Suggestions?

    RL26 finish off load question

4 images of 4 seating depths shot yesterday. These are the 200 grain Partitions at about 2730 fps from the 30-06. All images are 4-shot groups. Group size alone, the bottom right is the smallest group. Upper right, the shot away from the others was the first shot of the day. Quite possible...

    RL26 finish off load question

Thanks for the powder recommendation Scotty! You were right, this RL26 is pretty easy to work with, loads came together fast!

    25-06, 110 ELDX, RL26 Results

Thanks! I do love my arbor press. I have a Wilson die for every chambering but one, and that one is a wildcat (7 Mashburn). I asked Kevin Weaver to make me a Wilson seater when he chambers the next rifle. I love the freedom to change seating depth at the range rather than making another trip...

    RL26 finish off load question

Gents, Thinking here about how to finish off the loads with the RL26. For the 25-06 The node for the 25-06 looks like it's about 54.6 - 55.4 grains. Less than 20 fps spread between the highest velocity and lowest velocity in that range. For the 30-06 Looks like 60.2 - 61.0, 13 fps...

    30-06, 200 Partition, RL26 results

I posted earlier I got some RL26 to play with, and I wanted to try it in both the 30-06 with heavies and the 25-06 with 110s. For this rifle I tried the RL26 with GM215M primers, Nosler cases, and 200 Nosler Partitions. Better results from the 30-06 than previous loads I've tried! Up till now...

    25-06, 110 ELDX, RL26 Results

I posted earlier I got some RL26 to play with, and I wanted to try it in both the 30-06 with heavies and the 25-06 with 110s. Results for the 25-06 are not notable, because of the rifle. She just plain shoots everything well. I wish all my rifles were as tolerant as this one! Here she is...

    RL26 for 30-06 and 25-06

I made it out today, and the weather was chilly and misty. About 40 degrees. It rained here all day yesterday, so everything was wet, roads muddy. Perfect for a trip to the range, because I was there by myself for 2 hours! The first shot of the wood stock 30-06 and the 200 grain ELDX I...
