Ruger African in 35 Whelen FS!

I see a NIB Lipsey’s Ruger African 35 Whelen over at RokSlide is For Sale for $1,350.00! Unfortunately it’s not one of the original African Ruger’s with the three blade 3/4 Rib barrel. I did see one of those over at AH in 30’06 like I once had. But I think that guy wanted $2,950.00

Rifles that Need to be Hunted (or loads developed for) in 2025

My friend’s 25/7 PRC built on a Tikka with a 22” bbl was in the 3,150-3,200 fps range with Hornady 134’s behind VV N570 in necked down ADG brass. His final load I watched him put two first round hits on a 12”x12” plate @ 1,200 yards off the back of my PU tailgate! I’ll break in the bbl with...

Rifles that Need to be Hunted (or loads developed for) in 2025

I talked with Eric at BMP, he just needs to bed and assemble my 25/7 PRC built on a Borden Timberline Magnum LA, 24” Benchmark .257 1:7.5 twist CF Sendero lite, TT Diamond 2 stage, Hawkins BDL w/Watts extended box, in a MCS T Elite CF stock. I don’t remember what it was going to weigh …. But it...

What was the first animal you took with rifles you have owned/used?

Now that’s funny! I had a Crossman .177, and a .22 pellet gun that were identical. Plastic stocks, some diamond on the fore end, 10 pumps and they were screaming fast back in the day, 1970’s I don’t remember the first. But everything from Muskrats, Squirrels, Crows, Bobwhites, and a lot of...

New LH Bansner CF stock Model 70 in 308 Norma Magnum

Mark built me one of his Ultimate One’s many years ago on a McBros action in 8.59 Galaxy that was a light weight hammer!! 3,055 fps with a 210 Barnes XLC X bullet. I took a lot of game with that rig. You should have one of the finest hunting tools available in your hands. I’d suggest you...

You would have been just as welcome! I except money that Jim Cramer helped make you just as much as the next guy! Although he’s lost me more money than whatever stock ideas he had! Nike, I could have bought two of these, Estée Lauder I could’ve bought four of these! I guess I’m just a bad...

    Elk loads this year?

I’ve been hearing the Cow Elk start talking around my place over the last few days. The temperatures here are crazy high! When the cold air funnels down the mountains surrounding me I could smell them really good too. I guess it depends on if I hunt the heavy timber, or take a longish less...

What did you use to kill your first deer?

A PSE Compound bow! I had about $250 invested into the entire thing, case and all. Used it to take a lot more deer too. Not fancy, but it worked as long as I did my part of the job.

So Glad That I Tried Different Rifle Cartridges & Loads!

That simplicity for practical reasons is The reason to never underestimate the man with one gun! Or the Rancher and his 22-250, the Alaskan guide and his 45-70, or the two teenagers that I know from Jordan Montana, Gwen and Ari that started out shooting me five years ago! I told myself that...

Multiple Rifles Out at the Range Yesterday

Not that your 7mm-08 using the 160 AB will shoot the same as mine did, but it shot 1.5” groups at 300 yards using H414, which is discontinued but W760 is the exact same thing. I don’t remember the charge, but it was pretty darn fast in a Hart barreled Wby Vanguard.

30-06 QL Help Please and any help from the stands would be great too.

I suppose if Alliant begins bringing back their powders RL19, and 22 had always worked really well in my various ‘06’s, but those were with 180, 200, and 220 grain bullets. But those rifles had shorter barrels than the 26” you’re currently using. FWIW, I have seen RL23 show up, but at the...
