Unfortunately I seriously doubt that anyone will ever see Norma Powders Stateside. Alliant has recently begun shipping Reloader powders, which was a long time coming. That said, even though they are considered the same, but slightly better QC product than what Alliant is selling, it’s not...
I noticed that Scheels had RL 23 in Billings yesterday. I’d almost think RL 16 would be too fast, but I could be wrong. I have some but I didn’t think about trying it.
My rifle with the current lot I’m using of Norma URP was as fallows:
41.5 grains produced 2473 fps.
43.5 grains 2544 fps.
That data is only from a single shot, and not an average unfortunately. The chronograph is not conducive to testing for accuracy, and why it’s half worthless.
Just...
I spent yesterday and the day before testing this load, and adjusting the seating depth. It seemed to shoot best right where I left off plus or minus .0010”. ~ .0075” off the lands.
This is not a rifle that can handle a three shot groups, it heats up too much! A waste of time and effort...
Not too shabby for only a ten round work up.
I could tell it wanted to shoot when I got to 41.5. I had to attach the Mag-dumb-Not-So-Neat once at that charge weight to see what was happening speed wise.
I would normally never advise anybody to jump two grains unless you’re absolutely certain...
@Dr. Mike
Your QL is very close to the actual velocity that I’m seeing with URP, and the 127 LRX!
It’s one line above (slower velocity) then what it predicted. Which is way different from Barnes manual with MRP. URP is roughly 4.0 grains lower vs MRP. Had I translated that to URP, that would...
Hopefully one of these will come together and be consistent enough that I’d hunt with it. I only have on hand one other bullet that’s easy to make shoot, the Green Boxed 140 GK. Partitions tend to be fairly easy to get to shoot, and a better bullet then anything else to boot too!
It’s those...
Muscular cat! I have one that lives around here, but I rarely ever see him or hear him. A few years ago he growled at me, so I went back into my house to get my M4 and proceeded to follow them into the woods. Which he didn’t really find comforting, so he growled at me again. The woods around...
I don’t have any of the RamShot powders on hand. I tried them over twenty years ago and none of them really worked well for me back then, and I never tried them again.
If someone can help me out that would be great!!
6.5x55 Swede 18.5” bbl.
Lapua brass
127 LRX, Nos 125 and 140 Partition using
Norma 204, and URP.
Norma lists the 140 Partition, it would be interesting to see how QL compares.
Older thread but I was doing some research on the Swede for my Ruger RSI Carbine that only has a 18.5” bbl. and since H4350 had always worked so well in my 260’s I thought why not try it!?!
I shot it yesterday with 120 Scenar’s and it topped out, or should I say I stopped at 45.0 when I got...
It does have the ability to strap it to the end of the muzzle end, but I had to modify the mount to level the be bayonet to function properly with a business card folded up.
Not a lot of velocity with a 18 1/2 inch barrel. Most of the powders I’ve tested so far are in the 2600 to 2650 ft./s...
I’ve needed one of those ever since my Ohler broke, and bought this to replace it a few months before the Garmin came out. ☹️
I bought Garmin’s stock when they brought it out, and it was flying off the shelves instead. I still own it, and why I’m giving away the MagnetoSpeed with my SAC 260...
So evidently this rifle was in fact made just this year per my conversation with Ruger today.
This barrel cleans up super quickly! I hope to get back to testing it asap, we’ve had a lot of wind here the last two days.
I’m going to try a 120 Scenar with VV N160. Which is basically what I...
