.1 vs .02 digital powder scales

I hardly see the point in chasing 1 fps consistency in powder charging when a half-grain difference in water capacity between cases will net you about 10 fps in variance---and I'd be surprised to see a variation in a lot of 20 cases less than 1 grain. Throw in neck tension variations, and the...

    Forster Co-Ax press

If I'm only loading a dozen rounds or so, I'll go ahead and just use the Co-Ax priming station. No doubt it is positively consistent, but it IS slow going. I use my RCBS hand priming tool if I've got more work to do.

I guess that explains the bullet holes. Duh! What part of the world are you in?

This is what a flattened primer looks like---to me.

    30-06 info

You can sooner get in trouble with the 4350s than the 4831s, but the potential is there with both.

    30-06 info

A little unsolicited advice...you won't get a good burn with 7828 and your velocity spreads are likely going to be all over the place. Smokeless powder is meant to operate at certain pressures and when pressures are low, performance generally suffers. Using a burn rate that's too slow can even...

I personally have no fear of pushing the .30-06 beyond SAAMI pressure specs, but you might possibly get into trouble with IMR4831. Cartridge : .30-06 Spring. (SAAMI) Bullet : .308, 180, Nosler PART PP 25396 Useable Case Capaci: 61.419 grain H2O = 3.988 cm³ Cartridge O.A.L...

It looks as though you couldn't possibly get enough 7828 in a .30-06 case to get into trouble. Cartridge : .30-06 Spring. (SAAMI) Bullet : .308, 180, Nosler PART PP 25396 Useable Case Capaci: 61.419 grain H2O = 3.988 cm³ Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 3.340 inch = 84.84 mm Barrel...

Oh, wait...that's not a permanent divider there. All I'm sure of now is that it has lotsa bullet holes in it, whatever it is.

I don't believe I've ever shot at a range with cages for the shooters. I do notice all the bullet holes in the wooden partitions. That represents an awful lot of ADs, or some downright disrespectful shooters!

    No...THAT is a lube dent.

    Pressure sign?

Well, wait a minute. You say these were fired in your own rifle, right? So, is the photo before resizing, or after? If they look like that after firing in your rifle, then I would suggest you need to take a good look at your chamber. If they look normal after firing, but take on these dents...

    Pressure sign?

One thing's for sure....they are curiously uniform in shape. And that one at the bottom sure looks like SOMETHING is either in the sizing die or the chamber, whatever the case may be.

    barrel length measurement question

As I understand it, if you're doing this for OBT purposes just close the bolt on an empty chamber then stick your cleaning rod down the bore and put a mark on the rod right at the muzzle. Measure the rod from the end to the mark, and that's your barrel length.

    Quickload projected pressure?

I agree with Scotty wholeheartedly. I've read through this thread and did not see any mention of an actual water capacity measurement. It can make all the difference in the world. Case in point: that slick new 70 Super Grade I snagged a couple of months ago? My load for the older .280 pushed a...
