After getting some very fast loads compared to book velocities, I cleaned my rifle very deeply including iosso with brushes and then wipeout overnight.
Velocity dropped 200 fps with the next rounds.
After some searches I find some shooters saying the Reloder 16 I was using lays down carbon...
The stick on reading lenses can be trimmed and put anywhere on your shooting glasses. I have one on the upper left quadrant of one pair i use for open sights. The ones i use can be easily removed and relocated with some water...
If you are getting very good accuracy with the Sierra, I 'd stick with that for deer. My dad and grandad took a lot of elk with the 180 grain Game King and deer and antelope with the 25cal Game King.
Another 30-30 bullet is the Hornady 170 grain flat point. Hornady told me they expand at 300...

Max velocity for that bullet weight is 3800 per Sierra where I got the load data. No pressure signs, but I don't want to wear out a 95 year old action. Ballistics table shows that even 3700 fps will keep a sub 1" point blank range for 225 yards.

I wonder why IMR dropped their Red, Green, Target so fast. I bought the Green for $14 in 2023. I saw the Alliant version of Green Dot for $54 last winter. Seems like if IMR could sell something for $14 a couple of years ago they could make big bucks selling it for $40+ now.
Thanks, titegroup looks like a good one being insensitive to position and hodgdon has subsonic lacketed loads for 308 and 30-06. Cast bullets are more forgiving, so titegroup should be easy to find loads for them.
With 178 ELD x. Slow and ho hum accuracy. R17 better at both. IMR 4895 too. I bought some of the staball match to try as i really like the 6.5 in 30-06 and 7x57.
