I guess I wasn't quite clear in my post so I thought I would clarify that I wasn't referring to a standard 35 Whelen but an Ackley improved version of the Whelen with the 40-degree shoulder.
I wanted something different then an off the rack rifle.
Quick load tweaked using CFE223 and 225 Nosler...
Good luck with that Preacher, I won a Vanguard in 300Wby which had a Tupper ware plastic stock on it, the recoil was so ferocious it would loosen the action screws and tore the forward sling stud out of the stock with a bi-pod attached to add weight and help to hold the muzzle down, busted a...
I'm with Bruce Mc on the loss of brain cells trying to figure it out, so I let someone else do it for me who has a ballistic app when I hunted at higher elevations but tried to do my load development in the fall for big game rifles and spring for varmint rifles.
Scotty helped me out when I went...
Just to let people know the CRPF bolts were also found in the long actions like 30-06 which I have one of that I had rebored to .358 and chambered for the 35 Whelen AI.
Since all of my push feeds are long actions, I replaced the Winchester synthetic stocks with either wood or good synthetic...
Very nice Fotis. 60 couple years ago my dad once said that if he couldn't have a 30-06, he would want a 300 Savage. The old timers had a lot of respect for it in deer camp.
It seems all stocks whether factory wood or aftermarket synthetic Composits with metal action blocks will shoot better with a little help from skim bedding at least all of mine have and then I've had some that didn't need it. Mass produced stocks are made to just drop in so yeah skim bedding...
Still kicking myself for selling my Savage Anschutz .22 target rifle. Savage was the importer for a while and had their name on the barrel. I used it to hunt squirrels and if I could see a squirrel's head in the scope the squirrel was mine. I have shot Remington 40X Bs and other .22 target...
You DrMike are a very bad influence. (LOL) I changed my meal to country fried steak medium rare, mashed potatoes with brown milk gray that would stick to your ribs and tender green beans fresh from my freezer.
My Cardio and GI doctors would be having a fit if they knew, both want to put me on a...
Ditch the problem brass and move on, then keep a watch on the replacement brass to see if you are having the cases stretch in the belt area, you could have a head space problem or a bolt that isn't fitted properly.
Manufacturer will tell you that it is in specifications and to use factory ammo only.
Happy New Year everyone!
I went to bed at 2300hrs and left the wife who had napped most of the evening to bring in the New Year.
Had to get an MRI with Resolution in the morning and my stomach wasn't having any of the side effects so I was washed out.
Hopefully the day will be better, so I can...
Very nice. I only have 2 rifles still in the factory wood, but both have had extensive bedding jobs to stabilize the wood to maintain accuracy in them. The new carbon poly stocks with a full metal bedding block will usually take a pig's ear accurate rifle and turn it into a very consistent shooter.
Very nice JD, you have to love the medium bore calibers, 358 and up, they just simply work on whatever you shoot with them and surprisingly very accurate also.
