When I was around 12yrs old my sisters boy friend taught me how he was taught by the USN to sharpen a knife using a wet stone and spit. I soon learned I could get a sharper edge using oil. Then I discovered the Lansky sharpening system when I was in my late 20ys. I wore my first out a few years...
Weatherby adopted A-Square 338-06 drawings and built a few rifles but the ammo was all over the place as for specification and some would fit the chamber and some wouldn't which is probably why it is still a hand loading
only option to get ammo.
I was looking to buy one when I had my 35 Whelen...
First off congrats on a new rifle, secondly I would suggest a scope that has a known reputation for durability.
My one and only 300Wby ate scopes for breakfast lunch and dinner, that said stick something on it known to handle heavy recoil and vibration, vibration kills more scopes than anything.
Here's a thought that I'm not sure of but If I understand right the Constitution says that a Pres. candidate can't run for more than 2 consecutive terms but in his case, he failed in getting elected for a second term so I'm wondering if he gets a reset and can run for re-election after this term?
I've seen these on precision long range .22 rim fires for precision long range target shooting. Not something I would want to lug around on a hunting rifle.
I have watched my USPS shipments pass my house and go 200 miles in the wrong direction and then turn around and bounce back and forth between DC's for two days before landing at the post office for delivery.
The farmers in my area are finding lots of dead deer in the soy bean fields while harvesting the beans. No one seems to know what's killing the deer.
Today one farmer found what looked to be a healthy 14 point White tail dead in one of his fields.
We have seen some CDW and Blue tonge but these...
I got tired of throwing away meat that was blood shot when using light (150gr) bullets on deer so when the 165gr bullets came out I tried them and never looked back. I felt the 180gr was a bit over kill for our eastern white tails and the 165gr seemed perfect. I have never had one go farther...
I may be late for the party but I'm old school and weigh each of the charges on a RCBS/OHUAS 10-10-10 Bearm scale. Used it so much I broke the powder pan handle off and have placed it on the pan hanger to still get accurate weights.
I need to find a new powder pan one day since it's a pain...
I use Redding dies for 35 Whelen and for the 35AI. I have used 270 brass and 280 brass to make both and my dies have a tappered neck expander in the 35whelen/AI and annealing the necks first is always best before resizing. The 270/280 brass is longer than 30-06, I have lost a few but they were...
Yeah that is eye catching and I wouldn't want it hanging on a strut either.
Maybe try a B&C composit stock with a full bedding block and you will see those 1/4" groups along with the timmney trigger upgrade.
Hey E. get a Timmney trigger for it and never look back. I had a Vanguard/Howa that the trigger felt like it was full of sand, the Timmney made it fell like glass breaking when you touched it off.
Sold the Vanguard but still have the trigger in box in my reloading room.
Used them all until I tried Imperial case wax and haven't had a stuck case since.
I use a custom powder funnel/case mouth expander for .45 acp in my Dillon 550B, when I expand cases that have been cleaned with steel pins and lemon shine the cases will stick in the expander, I smear a little...
