    30-06 BAR 18.5" barrel Oryx 180

Your preference but it’s a good piece of mind for anything semi automatic. Imo it’s the best crimp on the planet and it’ll probably only cost you 20 bucks for the die. I don’t do it in my AR 15s but I use the lee factory collet crimp dies for my AR tens and anything semi auto. I also use it in...

    30-06 BAR 18.5" barrel Oryx 180

I would remove the fore end and open the channel up till it floats. It will never shoot acceptable groups imo till its floated.

    30-06 BAR 18.5" barrel Oryx 180

Verticle usually means the barrel is stressed...not floated. Up and down usually means my optic came loose and sliding forward with each shot from recoil. Id check to see if your forend is touching the barrel. Id also make sure its tight. I had poor accuracy like you did with my 7600 in 35...

    30-06 BAR 18.5" barrel Oryx 180

The oxyx bullets have been non existent...where did you find them? I had some .358 that were out of spec by .002 to .004 undersized. They ended up refunding me becuause every bullet acxept for 2 sizes were out of stock on the Oryx website. Figured they went belly up. Imo any bullet in a 180...

Group testing my Remington 7600 carbine in 35 Whelen with 180 grain hot cores

Never owned a 760 but I know for a fact they are not built as stout as the updated 7600's.

Group testing my Remington 7600 carbine in 35 Whelen with 180 grain hot cores

If you can buy a factory chambered 35 Rem in 7600 for 1300 to 1850 you could quadruple your $$$$. Its about the rarest offering in a 7600. The 35 whelens they kept making non stop the last year beofore Rem went belly up. They did offer the 760's in 35 rem youll see for sale once in a blue moon...

Group testing my Remington 7600 carbine in 35 Whelen with 180 grain hot cores

I first cut off every pieces of white fat that I can see. Then wash really good. From there I put them on the bottom rack on broil. I will pat off all the melted fat, flip, and repeat every few minutes till it "looks" like all the fat melted off. Then I place the ribs in a completely sealed...

Group testing my Remington 7600 carbine in 35 Whelen with 180 grain hot cores

Well, the best part is I never hit ribs! I will be making them in the oven in the next few days! The giant 21”inside spread 9 point buck I shot during archery season a few weeks ago I tore the ribs up pretty good. I’m boiling the tongue right now. I’ll fry it up after about 4 1/2 hours of...

Group testing my Remington 7600 carbine in 35 Whelen with 180 grain hot cores

I think the flat metplates on those tips must push in a ways and then rips a big hole going in.

Group testing my Remington 7600 carbine in 35 Whelen with 180 grain hot cores

Nope, clear shot at about 25 yards on the dead run. That’s been pretty a common entrance hole size on deer at that speed per my last few I’ve shot. Even the 35 Remington has made holes that big going in. For some reason that bullet makes big holes on entrance. Those things are nastier than a...

Group testing my Remington 7600 carbine in 35 Whelen with 180 grain hot cores

Giant hole in and exited in front of the shoulder on opposite side. Ran 85 plus yards and then slid a good 100 plus yards down my ridge....geeze! I can not believe it traveled that far. I heard it roll down the ridge. Zero blood inside when I field dressed it. I would say the entry hole was...

Group testing my Remington 7600 carbine in 35 Whelen with 180 grain hot cores

Never tried any other loads in it since my first post. Was not even a thought on my priorty list. Maybe someday I try a different bullet. Just lost interest in the project since I found an accurate load I can use for deer hunting. The rifle will always be kept for a backup close range deep...

Group testing my Remington 7600 carbine in 35 Whelen with 180 grain hot cores

Just went out and checked my zero today on both this gun and my 22” 30-06 pump 7600. It was a zoo at the range today because deer hunting opens on Saturday for gun season. I was dead center and maybe a 1/4” to a half inch left from center at 100 yards when I checked the zero on the 35 Whelen...

Heavier 6mm hunting bullet - Nosler listening?

Ive only shot one whitetail with a 90 grain ballistic tip. It drops deer faster than my 35 Whelen wih 180 graim hot cores. Slammed to the ground at the shot and never moved.

Heavier 6mm hunting bullet - Nosler listening?

I'd be happy with at least 100 grain ballistic tip. A 105 or 110 would be great if they dont make the OAL to long so it will stabilize in a 243.

Remington 200 CLRN .35 Remington or other Cartridges

Id trade you for the ballistic tips for some of my cast 200 grain hollow points. I always wanted to try those. The 200 grain cast hollow points hammer deer. Id be using the partitions for bear in the 35 Whelen since you have them. Shot a few bear with 200 grain partitions out of my 300 RUM. I...
