In my experience, a braked 300 Weatherby Accumark is not a lightweight rifle, and recoil is much less that you'd think.
I actually enjoy shooting my braked (now suppressed) 300Wby as the recoil is very manageable.
Having a solid scope setup is always recommended, though.
So far I find Talley...
If it's the factory Triggertech trigger, it goes down to 2.5 pounds and no lower.
Feel free to unscrew the Allen screw on the bottom of the trigger out quite a bit to get to the lowest setting. Even if the screw falls out, you can screw it back in until you just start to feel it hit the internal...
I use the 180 Hammer Hunter in my 300 Wby, and 180 Barnes TTSX in Dad's and the one I loan my son.
All 3 rifles/both bullets do very well on elk.
In the last 2 years our elk have been 40, 285, 325, 230 and 85 yards for the 3 rifles. The 40 and the 85 yards were both offhand.
If you can routinely...
I'll ask as well - do you have any elk-capable rifle at present?
And did the outfitter say 600 yards? Or have others who used him said this routinely?
Or where did the 600 yard suggestion come from?
I've taken one at 400-450, a couple at 200 and 300 each, my bull last year at 40 and my first...
I had a chance at two of the Weatherby pistols about 15-20 years ago.
In retrospect, I should have looked harder at them, not realizing how rare and unique they are.
20% off with code RMEF if you buy it.
I buy the Elite version (all states) as I visit more than two on a routine basis.
It's also great for looking up property owners anywhere.
FYI my cell trail cameras have a free app that will map out their location. Yours might too?
I usually gently finger tighten until the adjuster runs into the bushing, then adjust a bit back so that the bushing is slightly loose. It seems to work well for me.
As Charlie noted, numbers down is supposed to be better than numbers up.
Did you ever do anything with this?
I’ve improved mine by doing a full action bedding, and of course with hand loads.
Of note, one of my 300s cut the groups in half when I started to use my new suppressor. It's now extremely accurate and would likely make your desired goal.
I have two in 270, and several in other calibers.
Dad has one in 270 as well.
All 3 shoot very well with factory ammo if you want to use that.
One of mine does VERY well with the 117 Hammer Hunter and is superb on deer and antelope.
I will note that with a Vanguard I routinely tune the...
I have one that's not quite that old, but a (more) modern staggered-feed stock fit just fine on it. The post-2003 staggered feed ones won't.
I don't believe based on what I have read or the ones I own that the design changed enough from 1958-2003 that any stock from that era won't fit.
