    Misfire

When I blow up those three cases it looks to me like the primer strike on the right is much deeper than than the strikes on the other two., especially the one farthest left. The one on the right is fired brass. I’d be looking for a mechanical problem, maybe just a gummed up firing pin?

Organized effort to limit kills and drive-up license costs

If they are successful and reduce the number of bears killed then I would expect the Florida Fish and Wildlife people will take that low success rate into account next year when they decide how many tags to make available.

Blood drained by mosquitoes. Fell in a marshy swamp. Tired and exhausted. Hundreds of miles walked. Sun burned. Some shots, not a single kill.

You listen. A flock of feeding turkeys makes a lot of noise scratching in dry leaves.

The way people hunt fall turkeys around here is to find a flock, break them up, set up near where you think they are and then call the young ones back in. Doves are typically hunted by sitting in the field and shooting birds that fly by near enough, decoys can help if you can get them up where...

    Which would you choose?

I’d choose a bullet and it would be the partition, it’s pretty much what I’ve done anyway. The exceptions would be where no Partition bullet is available like .348.

    Porcupine Hunting Tips?

Middle of the day when I was picking mushrooms. They are sometimes about during the day but finding them is just happenstance in my opinion.

    Ruger Red Label

Is the problem with the automatic safety? If it is, I’d just find someone to disable it and have a manual safety, which is what most firearms have anyway.

    Bear Fence

I’ve seen warnings from our F&W department that have said that in order for an electric fence to be effective against bears, it needs to be baited. People use them to protect hives or poultry but they hang bacon strips on them to make sure the bear gets its nose or tongue zapped good.

Most of the porcupine dens I find are in standing trees with a hollow.

    Porcupine Hunting Tips?

It’s not hard to find den trees, just look for big old trees with a hollow and look for a lot of porcupine poop under or inside. If you are there at dusk you will probably see them come out. Away from their den finding them is just happenstance. Make sure you cook them thoroughly because I...

For the handloaders that do Facebook

It definitely isn’t, but you can change it whenever you want. It might be easier to get members if you leave it public for awhile? Not sure.

Shell Shock 308 steel/nickle cases, sounds too good to be true?

Are these like the Sig cases for the military’s new .277 cartridge?

What was the first animal you took with rifles you have owned/used?

I grew up hunting with my great grandfathers Remington model 12, I think a 12c to be exact, it had a straight grip stock with a curved metal butt plate, an octagon barrel and a Lyman tang sight with a super cool combination front sight. I killed a bunch of rabbits and squirrels plus more than a...

What did you use to kill your first deer?

My first deer was a doe with a .50 TC White Mountain Carbine, the next day I shot another one with a TC Seneca .45, I shot a heck of a lot more deer with muzzleloaders before I killed my first one with a 30-06 that I had put together from parts my late uncle gave me, an FN Mauser 98 action that...

    Forgive me, Father

That’s beautiful, it seems like it deserves some highly figured wood in the grips though.
