I’m kind of left scratching my head when watching a hunting show and a fella has to dial for a 200 yard shot. With most cartridges’ MPB range, you’ll typically only be a few inches low at 300 yards. I understand precision shooting applications and have done plenty of dialing in competition...
It’s a dandy of a cartridge and one that I idolized as a kid due to my stepfather’s pre-64 M70 Westerner rifle. He killed a fine antelope with it that hung on the wall and it was very well suited for hunting our New Mexico big game species.
Thanks for taking me back to a much more simple time...
Scotty,
You and I are on the same crypto, man! I’ve got my kiddos squared away for a lifetime in the p64 department.
Good looking boy you’ve got there and looks like he’ll be even bigger than his daddy!

Joe
Dadgum shame it is! I really liked their insight and contributions to the conversation! They were a wealth of knowledge, polite, and humble! I miss their posting and especially their on game knowledge of the 300 H&H! Classy ladies they were for sure.
It’s wild that some fool filed a hurt...
Scotty,
It’s great to see you taking that rig out in the cold and getting her all dialed in! Are you thinking she’ll make the trip out West this year as your primary?
V/R,
Joe
Damn, Scotty!
Ya done good and CONGRATULATIONS!!! I think those are probably the best fleurs I’ve ever seen on a custom rifle and the deep relief in the checking is something reminiscent of an Al Biesen rifle! That dog will hunt, and it’s in 7 mag to boot!
V/R,
Joe
Thank you guys! I really appreciate it! We were so blessed to draw this hunt, enjoy the outdoors together, and finally harvest a buck. Ironically, a snow the day after our hunt ended really got the deer moving and migrating to their winter range. Deer were coming out of the woodwork!
My...
Well gents, I'm excited to report that after a whole lot of work, mama managed to score on a buck with her .257 Roberts! A word of thanks to my nephew who is a ranch manager and registered hunting guide here in NM and was able to help out a ton on the hunt. His knowledge of the area is...
Thanks again, guys! Things worked out pretty well, alright. I had an opportunity to go out with my daughter today for coyotes with her .243. The dogs didn't cooperate, but it sure was nice to visit, discuss her upcoming hunt, and take in an amazing sunset.
V/R,
Joe
Scotty!
Great account of your hunt and thanks for taking all of us along! That was awesome of you to get the Colonel on that bull and provide him with a field dressing tutorial. That pic of him with the hero load is perfect! You manage to hang with an amazing group of guys and that the Col is...
Guys,
Thank you for the kind words! It is great to be back! While we were gone, I managed to stash away some 90 grain Accubonds for the children's .243 rifles. I just ordered 100 Lapua cases, have a good supply of primers, and a little RL26. My plan is to try to work up a load that will...
