Just curious. Do you guys really see that much difference between lot numbers? Admittedly I'm not checking maintaining 1/2" MOA at 400 yds. If I have a rifle/load combo that shoots 3/4" at 100, I haven't seen much if any difference when opening up a new can of a different lot. This is with...
At that price they might as well tell me they just got a new Ferrari in priced at $240,000. I'd have no intention of buying either. That said, it's good to see that a completely MIA powder is showing up. It all helps in the long run.
Cool old rifle CL! Hope you get settled on a good load for it. I wouldn't worry about speed too much. If you think it's pushing the limits then back off some and have fun.
Yep, if you need it and it's available at a better than I can wait at that price, then get it.
Like already stated I have no problem with 1 lb cannisters of powder.
In the 30-06 range of cartridges a lb will get you anywhere from 120 to 145 rounds depending on the powder and corresponding...
I've noticed that Superformance powder is running cheaper than a lot of the other more modern powders. That's one good thing with powder availability coming back better overall, is that if a person doesn't want to pay the top dollar being put on a lot of powders at least there are substitutes...
Yep, I'm gonna do my best to resist the temptation to chrono it.
While I have rifles like this, there is just as good a chance that this season I'll be working at setting up somewhere for a closer shot and using something like a iron sighted 141. I've never had an overabundant amount of people...
They used some burled walnut to stock it. Pffffft. Those Germans must think they're pretty hoydee toydee.
I picked this rifle up off the used rack and it was listed as being used as a display model at shows. I can only surmise that it was possibly one of the hand picked rifles used by...
A wood stocked 101. The rifle has literally shot everything I've fed it from 130's thru 165's into 1/2" or less. 130's shot under 3/8", 150's both Hornady & Sierra into mid to high 5's with both IMR 4064 and now H4895, and Hornady 165's shot 1/2" on the button with both IMR 4064 & IMR 4350...
I love it on an above max book load when used in a 760 35 Remington. Liked it so well both in accuracy and on game results that I made sure I bought enough I'd never have to buy again for that combo.
Since then I've also used it in 35 Whelen with 200 grain bullets, and now this. Maybe the...
Ha. No kidding on the bouncing off part. I probably wont even chrono it, that way I have no questions or second guessing.
Just to put it in perspective, Nosler speed data is typically highly optimistic. Most people have difficulty hitting their published speeds. I know for sure that on the...
Getting low on IMR 4064 and I don't feel like paying $46-$48 a lb when I find it. I got a lot of H4895 so thought I'd try it in my Sauer as an alternative to 52 gr of 4064 with a 150 gr bullet.
Already know what seating depth that rifle likes with the 150 Sierra PH so just loaded up 3 sets of...
I'd try it but I already got a lot of 4831 and that is a powder I don't use much of. For whatever reason in general I don't have cartridges or use bullet weights that either like or require slow burning powders. 4350 is a mainstay for me but slower than that just doesn't get used much.
When this thing first hit that it was noticeable things were getting harder to get, I was already good for the most part across a broad spectrum of cartridges on bullets and powder. I got caught flat footed on primers. I had more than a lot of people, but not enough to just continue shooting as...
Only thing I've slowed way down on is buying. Took some yrs to get stocked up to where I didn't have to worry about buying, so why buy now when most things are higher? If I see something I can use priced at or cheaper than pre-covid & biden madness, I'm likely a buyer. Otherwise I can wait a...
Just a guess, but likely due to any number of 100's of people that can see they have primers, but it's not worth them driving there for the 2 packs advertised online.
That and a whole lot of people that are waiting on straight LR and don't realize that just because it says magnum doesn't mean...
If you're saying that was the number of individual primers, 10,000 sounds like a lot, but at a store as big as a Sportsman Warehouse selling by the brick would last as long as it would take to ring up 10 people at the register.
