The Speer 145gr BTSP is what I use in the 7mm-08 and 280 as well but different powder I use H 4350 The 7mm-08 has taken a fair number of deer both whitetail and mulie along with a few elk with that load. Tried many of the other bullets mentioned but have gone back to the speer.

Have shot a couple and guided a couple the 2 I shot were with 30-06 handload 180 gr speer BTSP both 1 shot one at 30yds facing me other at 250-300 broadside. The one guided was a 270 1 shot the other a 300 weatherby took many shots and got a little western. As all ready mentioned here in B.C...

If the cat was in a tree was probable not stalking her horses unless she spooked it up the tree when she was coming out of the building. Did she tell you any thing about age, size or sex of the cat.

There is a video on you tube that just came on in the last week or 2 from Washington of a guy following some tracks and getting a cat after bumping it off a kill. The country you posted looks like it would be some nice stuff to run dogs in if allowed.

Congrats to you and your buddy on your 2 elk but when you say 3 hr stalk what are you hiding behind looks like nothing for miles but flat land and grass.

Beautiful looking cat I have always thought life size but now think just tanning is better and if you decide later you can rug or even life size except for life size a wet tan is better.

Well the bullets arrived will now get some loaded and see how they do, there was a few 175 gr included as well. Sorry Polaris I live in Canada so can not send them to you. Will try them in the 7mm mag first with imr 4831 and 7828.

Thanks Alderman Most of what I have read are they are great or they arnt but that seems to go with any bullet. I wouldn't have tried them but there was enough in the bunch that if they do shoot well will have enough to last awhile.

I would tan them both then if you decide you could have them rugged at a later date. Pictures are great and have many of them but would love to have that bear hide around as well. Well remembering or talking about the hunt its nice to have it there. My eye is drawing more to the hide hanging...
