CLR imo has to soak , then brush , I think it softens the carbon , then soak again,
Hard layered carbon is the most problematic fouling to remove from a barrel .
Getting a scope is a very enlightening,
And for 45 bucks and far superior to the Lyman I've used . And you can take pics or...
My good rifles have good optics .
But I always keep a "truck gun" for dragging around in truck, Ranger , boat. No need to beat a costly rifle up.
But these Athlon scopes and binoculars just keep amazing me , track correctly, punch way above their weight class .

I bought a used 6.5 - 284 Norma, shot pretty good not great, I didn't scope barrel just loaded up and started working up load. Never got to what I thought it should, for some reason I ran a dry patch through it

Only reason I tried them was I couldn't get Nosler 100 grain BT .
I may not go back as these shoot extremely well and terminal performance is off the chart.
But they are costly.

Wife killed a big doe 225 yards with 6.5 Creedmoor, 99 hammer hunters .
All I can say is very impressed, violent wound channel. Lungs were jelly , great exit hole , instant blood trail , deer ran maybe 40 yards with double lung shot. Deer was squared up 90 degrees
