I never thought about a 6-06, I'll have to give it a closer look. Sharp looking rig by the way.
I'm assuming a powder in the 4350 to 4831 range is the ticket for this round?
Besides a 25-06ai & 280ai...i thought long & hard about a 6.5-06 where I could utilize the pile of 25-06 brass I...
Creedmoor...That's the exact same barrel I'm looking at...gonna chop mine to 24".
Did you go with stainless or CM?
Keep us posted on how your 9-twist barrel handles the ABs because I'm leaning towards trying those if my backorder from Cabelas ever comes in otherwise I've got a whole pile of...
Thanks for the info preacher.
Can I use my 25-06 Lee collet neck die on fireformed 25-06 ai brass and just pick up a Redding body die?

Not sure if this belongs here or the Rifles section...feel free to move if need be.
The 'ol 25-06 is getting a new tube after November deer season and thinking about going to an 25-06 AI. I know a bunch of you guys run 280 AI's.
Anyone have any experience (or have any good load data) with...
A little update. Got the range this morning. I loaded up 3-sets of 100 gr Ballistic Tips with 53.0 gr, 53.3 gr., & 53.6 gr. of IMR-4831 for the 25-06 and shot all groups at 300 meters. 53.0 gr. & 53.3 gr. didn't too bad grouping at 2''-3''. 53.6 gr. was the obvious winner going 0.481''. The...
I like hearing this.
I just bought 2 lbs of MRP to try in my 280...then I read that you had some temp stability issues with it in your AI. Hopefully my results will mirror yours in your 270's.
Thanks for the info.

Man that's purdy. That stock is very cool.
You'll get used to the safety. Leave it in the middle position and you're one click away. I like being able to work the bolt with the safety on.

I'm starting to get the itch to try some 150's or 160's but I'm not too optimistic on the velocities with a 23" barrel. I'm kind of kicking myself for not going with a 24" or 25" tube.

CRF that started life as a Featherweight BOSS. The action and trigger are the only original components left on her.
I have no experience with the Hornadys yet but the AB's have been deadly.

Deer and hogs I'll use the Model 70 280 pushing 140 gr Accubonds or 139 gr Interlocks.
There's a chance I might dust off dad's old 243 sometime this fall but it needs a load worked up for it.

That's what I wanted to know...thanks for the info.
Even though I do most of my load testing in the spring and summer... I shoot in the early mornings so I very rarely shoot when it's over 80.

Thanks.
Straight 280 with a 23" Bartlein barrel. The h100V definitely did better than I expected.
I've thought about trying the 140 gr BT's...just haven't done it yet.

...well this morning actually.
Ran 3 more ladder tests this morning with the 280. The first set was with H-4831sc pushing a 140 gr. AB which showed zero promise. My 12 gauge patterns better. I'm officially done with this powder (at least for the 280).
**DISCLAIMER: this load is over max...
Like everyone else said...it's pretty hard stuff but decent stuff.
Me and a buddy of mine both reload nickle plated winchester cases and haven't had too many problems with it until today. He had 2 split necks out of 3 shots on 3-fired casings this morning. The box of 50 he's got loaded up are...
