I figured you had a plan at the end of the first post. Now wondering if our Vortex is partially to blame for our POI wanderings.... we don't have a V4 to try! Nice group Fotis, my faith is restored!

Fotis, you are the Bee guy. I just think it is odd that I've read more about accuracy problems with "Accumark" rifles than the other models including Vanguards. Ours has been a challenge, too. I'll bet you get it straightened out... Best to you.

Guy, maybe he needs to look at the recoil absorbing personal gear that is worn, rather than what goes on the rifle. I have zero experience, but have read some good results. There may have been some discussion on here even. The PAST brand is talked about and the major suppliers have other items...
Were some of the 229 factory loads, or have they all been handloads? If factory, how did they perform? Maybe try a box - if the bolt sticks contact Browning maybe.

Fotis, because it is well-used brass, it's hard to tell. I was looking at the brass and headstamps more than the primers. Some brass has sharp lettering, some has more rounded, one has a weird mark. If I were playing with it, I'd lightly polish the headstamps with fine steel wool in a circular...
Those are pretty deep and significant leftover crimp marks - much more than I'm used to seeing. Many nearly disappear on firing. Just wondering if heavy crimp might have contributed to the two cracked ones. Sounds like you've got it handled, but it is a puzzlement...

They feed fine in my Encore! No help, I know - but they have been great bullets for me. Deadly on whitetails <200 yds, and arrow right through turkeys with little meat damage. You could try seating a hair deeper, may not affect accuracy.

Welcome, bangskeet! I smiled at your question, but there are no dumb questions from newbies here! Glad to see you on the forum. We all are pretty kind, some of us know more or less than others. It is a great group.

Go to leatherworker.net, join up, post your pictures and question. It's like the Nosler forum of all things leather. They will help and they know the answers. I would only be guessing.

I suggest taping it and using a stripper agent. I don't follow directions well, and discovered that brushing the stripper in and not letting it sit long at all, then brushing again with a pretty stiff brush to make sort of a soup out of the stripper and softened finish - then wiping and...
Thanks, CL! It was a special project for an old friend battling cancer. I took a lot of time with it, and enjoyed every minute. Did the checkering and the pattern came out just the way he wanted. I did do another for my daughter, got some pictures somewhere. I guess I wanted to make my point...
Or a steam gun like my wife loans me works on dents, too. I've played with finishes including Tru-oil, Tru-oil mixed a drop or two of Armorall; linseed oil, and lately Minwax Antique Oil (which is more closely related to Tru-oil than pure oil of any kind). There's a bunch of finish info on...
It's pretty tough to turn impressed in checkering into real checkering. It looks like that is what the stock has presently. Perhaps someone has pulled that off, but not me. As you are finding out, there is plenty of finishing advice out there. I have been successful refinishing stocks and still...
