My nephew's Marlin XS-7 in 7mm-08 Youth model is very impressive. We're looking for a full-size stock for it now. I think the 7mm-08 is a great round for your intentions. That 120gr BT can be loaded down to a very comfortable level and it will still take those puny Virginia and SC WTs with aplomb.
