Thanks JD. The 300 is new this year and I don't have a lot of range time with it. After this years hunt I will take your advise and play around with seating depth. It's not uncommon for me to shoot #1&2 tight and #3 out a bit with this rifle. Don't know if it's me, the rifle or the load...
I am almost ready for this years hunt. I have my 300WSM and my son's 7mm-08 and 6.5x55 ready to go except a few minor scope adjustments and some field practice.
Here is what I came up with this year. Man, you gotta luv them Partitions.
Savage 7MM-08, 160gr Partition, 47.5gr Ramshot...

I disagree. I've had my Lyman 1200 for almost 4 years. Just last winter the keyboard quit. I sent it back for repair. Lyman replaced the keyboard, repaired the hatch on the back (that I broke), gave me a new check weight and powder pan all at no cost to me.

It is most likely correct. If you have one, check out Sierra #5 and the 300WSM. There are several loads listed where the 180gr have more powder than the 165gr.
Does your once fired FL sized brass chamber without a bullet seated?
How did you set up your FL dies?
Do you have a case gauge like the Stony Point (Hornady) that you can take a "Head to Shoulder" measurement before and after sizing?
My guess is that your are having the same problem as...
First, you need to supply a bit more info. For QL you need to supply Cartridge, bullet, powder, COL and preferably case capacity in grains of H2O of a fired case.
Second, I have been told that the makers of QL are getting POed at all of this free info being handed out on forums like this...
I agree, go with the heavier bullets in your new AI toy. Or should I say your new Shoulder Thumpin AI toy. You are a better man than I if you can run 50 rounds through a biggin like that in one day.
Sounds like a great rifle. Don't worry about the naysayers and the like telling you you...

Of couse QL is only a guess. Without case volume of water and COL, it is even a bigger guess.

Hey POP, Nice job indeed! May I make a suggestion without sounding bossy or holier than thou. Next time you take your son out shootin, how about a nice pair of shooting glasses.
I found 7828 to run pretty close to what QL says in my rifle. Accuracy is very consistant and repeatable 1-1 1/8 inch groups at 100 yards with 180 Partitions. I can get Sierra 180 GK to shoot sub MOA, but I do not hunt with anything but Partitions so that means very little .
Here are the...
I had an old Rem 700 30-06 laying around gathering dust. I was never impressed with the accuracy of this rifle and it was ugly. I desided to spruce it up with a new laminated stock and an AI conversion.
Man did I catch a lot of grief from my fellow shooters and handloaders. I was told it...
