I am almost ready for this years hunt. I have my 300WSM and my son's 7mm-08 and 6.5x55 ready to go except a few minor scope adjustments and some field practice.

Here is what I came up with this year. Man, you gotta luv them Partitions.

Savage 7MM-08, 160gr Partition, 47.5gr Ramshot Hunter avg velocity 2734fps.

CZ Model 3, 300WSM, 165gr Partition, 72gr MRP, 3184fps
Win M70 Featherweight, 6.5x55, 140gr Partition, 46gr DP86, 2764fps.

Excellent shooting! Yes, PT's do shoot with great accuracy. With the 300 WSM and 6.5x55, try seating you bullets .005" and .010" deeper to close up those great groups.
I think you are ready!

Thanks JD. The 300 is new this year and I don't have a lot of range time with it. After this years hunt I will take your advise and play around with seating depth. It's not uncommon for me to shoot #1&2 tight and #3 out a bit with this rifle. Don't know if it's me, the rifle or the load, but when time allows I will find out.

The Swede is a different story. I've been working with this skinny barreled rifle for a couple of years now. This rifle is extremely picky when it comes to seating depth. These loads are .003-.004 off the lands, if I go deeper things start to open up pretty far. Maybe I'll drop the load down and see how it like touching the lands?

Again, thanks for the tip.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Nothing wrong with your current loads. Now go fill your tags and post some pictures for all of us here.
Good luck this season!

And they kill just as good as they shoot too!!! I'd say those groups are within a minute of deer. Good luck and good huntin!!!

steve4102,

Thats fabulous shooting from all your rifles if its at 100 yds.

They don't carry Ramshot Hunter here and I have many powders now. Kind of wish I could try a pound.

The height of your groups is a little low for where I hunt. I prefer the impact at 100 yds to reflect at least a 200 yd zero.

On open land I carry a pocket sized runoff of the load with the trajectory, drift etc. made from http://www.eskimo.com/~jbm/calculations ... tions.html

Sorry, these were shot at 100 yards. The 7MM-08 was shot by my 16 year old son, the 6.5x55 was shot by my 14 year old and the 300 (worst group) was me.

Steve,
Those are all pretty darn good groups... those darn 7-08's are tack drivers in about any platform I've seen.

I have a .260 that I wanted to shoot the heavier bullets... 130's & 140's but so far it loves the 100's and 120's. I guess depending on what your hunting you may attempt the 125 Partition or 130 A.Bonds??? For a light cary gun however that is still good shooting !
