My .308 loves Varget, RL-15 and H4895, those are the only powders I ever tried in this rifle. I use different flavors of bullets, 150, 165, 168 Ballistic Tips, 178 ELD-X and M. They all shoot great and textbook performance in deer and hog sized game. There are other powders that others have...
When the strong March winds starts howling, it tells me its spring time, fishing season is here with water temps creeping up to 70 degrees. My boat is at the dealer for spring maintenance to do the 20 hour oil change and lower unit oil on my Suzuki 4 stroke. Need to put some fish in the...
Similar scenario of tick infestations we had when I took my chocolate lab and my Jack Russell on a whitewing hunt on our place, there is a sorghum field with the sun at our backs. Each time we down a bird, the dogs and i would walk between the rows and look for them. When we get home after the...
I'm in the same boat Dan is in, got the brass, bullets, primers and powder, but still waiting on the 6 BRA and the dies from Bat Machine. Plus the SEB rest and bullbag from Ernie.
Good stuff Jory . H4895 is a great powder too, I like it. I used it for the 308 with the 150-155's. I'll try that H4895 and Varget when the BRA comes in. My current Lapua brass, new lot of 3 boxes I just bought two weeks ago. Used one box for the BR, and had to switch from .266 bushing to .267...
Nice shooting Jory. I'm still waiting for my 6 BRA, its in the build process. Have you tried Varget? I'm curious since I have two jugs on hand in case in comes. Have you tried the 105 Bergers yet? Currently using the 6 BR / Varget / 105 VLD in the 2850 fps range.
Do you just fire form 6 BR...
New brass have slightly smaller volume / internal capacity than fireformed brass, like RL mentioned, start from the starting load and work up, its the safest way to do it. You can find a tune using new brass until you shot all 100 pieces and final tune your loads after its fireformed.
jimbires is spot on, Different rifles have different chamber lengths and throats, not a good idea to use someone else's data on seating depths for your rifle. This tool can help you greatly. Lock N Load OAL Gauge to check seating depth and CBTO.

Some people are idiots, when I had a deer lease back in the days, there was this lease just an hour away, loaded with nilgai, deer and hogs, the owner had a son who was an obnoxious little prick who was collecting extra money driving one day hunters around in his truck on hunting roads during...
It's why I use Lapua brass in all my rifles, except my 6.5 Creed which uses Nosler. As soon as my brass is toasted, I'm switching to Lapua.
Pistol brass I use Starline P+, great brass too.
I use Nosler brass for my 6.5 Creed since it was the only one I could find at that time, works so well and consistent banging steel out to 1000 yards, and I used Nosler brass for my old 7STW a ways back, it gave me the fits chambering new brass, half of the brass would not chamber after sizing...
I used to have a Browning BPS pump gun with a 30 inch barrel, bought some 3 and a half inch magnum #6 shells for ducks and that thing kicks so hard that I only shot about 10 rounds that morning, but it does have lots of reach. I have tried a few double aught and rifle slugs for giggles at...
That is interesting. I had tried to use the ABLR long ago for a rifle and it was so fussy to find the accuracy I wanted but gave up on it. Those bullets do have a high BC.
Wow, that Ronin interchangeable system is very nice stuff. My Kimbers are the older models, but still looking new. Shoots great with the Holosuns on it as well. I like the newer models where it already has the ramp feature to install the Holosuns.
Yes, minds think alike, I was looking around for a 308 die without the bushing and found a RCBS die from like 20 years ago. I'll clean that one up and size a few pieces and see what the readings are.
