So with having moved into the world of progressive reloading, I'm sort of struggling with the bench layout I have now and need to reorg the space.
- The wife is pretty adamant about not bolting anything into the walls, so I need to stick with a very solid free standing design.
- I'd like...
With the limited data available, it's really hard to make any educated guesses, there are just too many variables.
- I've gone out and bought factory ammo loaded with the same bullet help me figure out if it's my load or the bullet itself.
- Was it a bad batch of bullet? Even the best...
You sir have stumbled on a great internet debate - the merits of the 105g amax for hunting.
The folks at Hornady will tell you it was not designed for game and not to use it as such. Their argument is that it's not bonded and the jacket is too thin, causing it to come apart if it hit a...
Jeez, I was thinking about posting that it isn't as bad as I'd feared.
Locally, I could go out and pickup 1lb cans of Benchmark, H1000, Hunter, Big Game, Varget and a few others from accurate and IMR. I put a big jug of Varget on order and had it in hand at a local shop in a few days...
In my 700, I had crappy luck with H4350 in using the 105 Amax. It closed up the faster I pushed them, but I hit book max before groups tightened up far enough. (I think I loaded up to 41g following the hornady book if memory serves.) The factory rifling on a 700 is just at the edge of...
It was an even better score than I'd imagined. I was busy cleaning them and hadn't been paying much attention other than sorting them by headstamp and getting them through my tumbler. Looks like whomever was sitting on these for a few decades had taken the time to swage all the pockets. 2k...
I swear, the first 30 minutes of each day, while I wait for my wife to get ready, is all about online scrounging. It's the same canned searches of Powder Valley, Midway, MidSouth, Natchez, etc. I feel like my 2nd job is now searching for components at top off my supply.
And honestly...
RL19 is the unloved step child on internet forums and for the life of me, I can't figure out why. I love it in my 06, 7mm RM and 243.
If I could find some load data for it, I'd even like to try it out with some heavyweight 223s.
I think that you have a few factors at work.
- When people are looking for something like 223 and 9, and can't find it, they are scooping up the 22LR because they probably have a rifle chambered for it and they want to leave with 'something'.
- A lot of folks, on a tight budget, can't afford...
So thanks to a few buddies and a purchase off one of my other forum regulars, I've come into possession of about 2k mixed headstamp 223/556 brass with another 2k on the way.
Talk about a find! It's all in really good shape, fairly clean and the primers are all removed and it even looks to have...
All depends on how nice you are to it.
Give it time to cool between shots, don't cook your barrel with a hot and heavy range session. You already have a LOT of powder in there, don't try and push the limits any more than you need for your hunting velocities.
