After owning a very light weight Nosler 48 in 35 and having shot a few fairly heavy 700's and Model 70s in 35, I'd put serious thought into going lightweight.
Don't get me wrong, I love my Nosler Rifle, there is nothing I'd rather tote up and down mountains chasing elk. You never notice the...
Lead, plated or fully jacketed... you need to flare them. Straight wall cases mean it just won't work otherwise.
That said, I have my Dillon 650 setup to just bump it a bit, and the 124g Montana Gold CMJs seat without any issue 100% of the time. I figure the less I have to bump the case out...
I managed to draw turkey but missed out on deer of any sorts.
If you folks need an extra body in camp to keep an eye on things while you're out on the hunt, let me know. I started getting a bit paranoid leaving our camp setup where we go after Javalina, after a few years of seeing more...
So miracle of miracles, I scored a Turkey tag in Arizona this year.
But, for all the firearm collecting I've done in the last decade, I came to realize that the only shotguns I own are designed for 2 legged varmints, not gobblers.
I know, quite the horrible situation right? I'm...
How are they buckled? Evenly, around the entire diameter is crumpled in? Or is one side of the case crushed?
- If you're using the wrong shellplate, you may be getting some misalignment.
- If you have heavy lube, you could be having issues. Go very light and you should be fine with carbide...
As someone with visio and way too many boring conference calls, I can attest that target shape does make a difference.
- I've had my best luck with 1" diamonds
- I tend to put a 1" circle 1.5" above the center of the diamond - this gives me a reference to see if I'm 1.5" high at 100, my...
35 Whelen all the way
1) Because 35 is bigger than 30 :)
2) Because there is almost nothing the 30-06 can do that you can't already do with your 7 WSM
3) Because it's noslerreloading.com and any other answer is near sacrilege.
Extremely uniform, very good QA.
I bought about 300 pieces before the shortages and have probably 4-5 reloads through them in 9mm and they are still going strong.
Great stuff. Buy with confidence.
Everyone has one...
Bad nights sleep - coffee hits you a bit harder than normal...
Just about anything can throw off your mojo.
Those are the days I dig out a rimfire and just enjoy some fun.
It's all about consistency. The equipment used to size factory brass isn't going to perfectly match what my dies will do after sizing them.
Because I want my reload to shoot the same as my first load, I resize them all.
Do you have to? no.
Is sizing it first more consistent with what...
Just buy a base 700. It's only a few hundred more and gives you something to build on for the next few years. Throw on a trigger, upgrade the stock and you can have a very nice rifle. And a pretty dang good one until then.
So I have a couple of 700s that I've dropped into a B&C Alaskan stock and had very good luck. My desire to tinker though is slowly starting to make me want to play around with it.
The B&C Alaskan's have an aluminum block that the action is bolted into, it's a pretty solid setup. And while the...
Spot on.
All I'd add is the note that the ballistic software all uses models that are based on your bullets BC. It's important to know that their are multiple different models/ways of measuring your BC. BC also isn't a perfect measure.. How efficiently your bullet cuts through the air at...
I'd forgotten all about that stuff! I remember as kids, my brother and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I remember the two of us chipping in for a box of it and my dad taking us out to try it at our little place back in the woods up in MN. We passed a farm stand and with a glint...
