Attended our local gunshow this weekend and found quite a bit of IMR4350, 4064, a lot of alliant powders, all one pounders. No pistol powder at all. Two gun shows ago I found an 8LB can of 800X which will serve as pistol fodder for awhile. For whatever reason pistol powder is in short supply...
Guy, your post on swimming brought back some memories, both current and in the past. I still Scuba Dive at 70 years of age and my buddy and I usually travel between 8 to 16 miles off the coast. During the summertime Florida gets a lot of interesting Thunderstorms that pop up on short notice and...
Just make sure that if you're not wearing a lot of clothing for your shoulder you are wearing a good recoil cushion. The Lapua is the ballistic twin of the .338RUM and I (along with Jim and a couple of others) can tell you that with 300 grain bullets along with 3000FPS your rifle is going to...
Divernhunter, There were a number of years that Browning used salt in the process of making the gunstocks of their highpower rifles. I'm not sure of the dates but from what I've heard the salt does cause corrosion problems. Maybe someone on the forum can add to this.
I trim after each firing (after resizing case). I've noticed that after firing cases do stretch to different lengths, probably not critical but I'm thinking if each case neck grips the bullet for the same length it can't be a bad thing.
My Rem. 700 Titanium in 7-08 is to me the perfect medium rifle. Taken deer and Caribou with it. An available variety of bullet weights fills the bill perfectly.
Doc, this isn't related to the subject matter but wondering what the outcome was with the people that had to leave their houses from the floods and Law enforcement subsequently came in, broke into their houses and removed all their firearms. We're the firearms ever given back? I believe the...
Having used the ballistic tip for a lot of years and observing performance on game I would use the Accubond and Partition for animals larger than deer sized game. Actually the partition works on anything and everything.
Guy, interesting you mentioned the .375 No. 1. I had one a number of years ago with a Swarovski variable on it. At 200 yards I was getting a little over 1 1/4 inch groups with 270 grain Speers I believe with IMR4350. Didn't do any tune up work with it. It just plain shot well. Sold it and...
I've used Redding competition dies for quite awhile now and along with their competition shellholders I've never had a complaint. They just plain work.
Jim, the last .44 Carbine I saw at a gun show (three months ago) was going for around $800.00 I came back to the table about an hour later and it was already gone. Their hot sellers and don't last long. If I see something in the future I'll PM you.
Holy cow! I was perusing gunbroker this week and found a "less" than pristine model 94 Winchester in standard 30-30 caliber for $1000.00. Sorry but my 336 looks better and shoots better.
I had very good luck shooting the 430 grain cast bullet with IMR4198. I think you'll find that the 45-70 is easy to please with a wide variety of combinations.
