I know this has been discussed before but I could use some other members thoughts on this again as I have just started using this method. First question, How much water do you put in the Thumblers tumbler?. Second, upon finishing the tumble cycle how do you separate the steel media from the...
I've shot a Sig 1911 and have a friend who swears by his. I've never seen the gun hiccup and it seems to feed everything he puts in it. I don't know how much more you can ask.
Tecumseh, If you have any .357 cases on hand try loading them light with the bullet you wish to shoot. This will eliminate the ring that you have to get out of the cylinder after firing .38 rounds. A friend of mine who does a "lot" of target shooting brought this idea to me and it works great.
Had a 4506 for a long time. It absolutely shot everything I fed it. Had a custom set of grips (Mexican silver with a Mexican flag) that were brought back from mexico by a friend. Sold it for a Colt .45 Commander.
This sighting didn't take place in the woods but on and under the water off the central East coast of Florida where I live and Scuba dive/spearfish. I know most of the commercial fishermen and local divers and on three different occasions a great white has been observed swimming in our local...
I don't think your going to go wrong with either choice. The 1911 model hasn't been around for over a hundred years for no reason. My pro carry has over 3000 rounds through it at last count and it hasn't hiccupped yet. Same with my Colt Gold cup National match. feeds everything and shoots great...
I got VERY lucky yesterday and picked up 2 1lb cans of RL17 for 25 bucks apiece. my local gunshop gets spurts of powder in and you just have to be there at the right time. He's got some 800X in which works well in handguns. I picked up an 8lb can at our last gun show for 165.00 (one of two...
Shot and carried the P238 for awhile and really liked it for both reliability and accuracy. Decided to go one step further and traded the P238 for a P938. The 938 feels the same in your hand as the 238 but gives the advantage of being in 9MM. Accuracy is excellent and it really likes the Speer...
agree with Guy. That's a great bullet for deer and similar size animals but shooting at something as large as an Eland is definitely taking a chance. That's like shooting an Elk with a .243. If everything is perfect it "usually" works. Getting in to the vitals is the key issue. I've seen...
Doc, my buddy has a 700 in .300Winmag involved in the recall. He contacted Remington, they sent him a shipping box and it's now on it's way for the necessary repairs. Not sure of turnaround time but they were fast in helping him. Maybe he got lucky.
Guy, I carried a 4" on duty for many years prior to the semi auto changeover. S&W did a trigger job for me (worked one hour from the plant) and other than a change in stocks the gun was a perfect fit. S&W outdid themselves on this one.
Sigs always feel good in the hand. Had a 226 for awhile, had a weak/stupid moment and traded to a friend who had been telling me forever that he needed it more than I did. Did get a nice pre 64 model 94 out of it.
My Main elk rifle is a model 700 stainless synthetic in .338RUM. It wears a McMillan stock and a Zeiss Diavari 1.5X6 in Warne Mounts. Never found a disadvantage with the lower power. I did install a Tubbs Firing pin assembly which I believe helped accuracy. For ammunition either a 225 partition...
I've tried literally everything and find that Bore tech works the best for me. Both the eliminator and CU+2 work great and the smell is just about non-existent.
Don't mean to be negative about Barnes but I've had far better results with Nosler and Sierra in Both my .338RUM and .300WSM. Barnes are very finicky and cleaning a barrel after shooting is not a pleasant task.
